af group contacted me and said that im being sued for credit card with continent credit . he said i can settle if i send $900.00 to an account and im tried to find out if this is even a legal business

I live in GA and am being threatened with a wage assignment from 247 greenstreet. is this legal? Payday loans are illegal here, but they are based in Malta.

I had taken out several internet payday loans last September. Eventually,I got way over my head. They all have been turned over to collection companies. Here is a list of companies I borrowed from, how much, and who is calling me now. I can't get any of them to send a debt valadation letter. All threating legal action, for either passing a bad check or defrauding a finiancial company.

Greetings, all, I've been reading this forum skimming for similar threads, but I couldn't find anything that directly applied, and hoped to receive some advice from the resident experts. I took out a CitiAssist student loan from Citibank back in 2006 for the amount of $6,000. My grandmother co-signed for me, but she passed away in April of 2010. After interest was applied, the total amount came to around $7,300.

I was served a summons by a collection agency in washington state. when looking over the paperwork i noticed that one account i did owe, however i knew nothing about the other and have never been notified of it. is this legal to sue for a debt that you are not aware of?

I got a call today from an unknown number asking for either my mother or myself. I explained neither could come to the phone and advised I would call them back. I did so, and the lady who answered the phone asked me for the last 4 of my social and my current address. I explained I was not comfortable verifying that over the phone. I suspect that if this is a debt collector, it is from a private student loan I took out years ago. But did I do the right thing by not verifying this information with them?

I have recently been receiving calls and today a letter arrived from a company called Stephens and Michaels Associates who are working on behalf of Pinnacle Credit Services. They are claiming I owe close to $700 for a Verizon Wireless account that was active from 4/03 to 1/04. I have no memory of this debt, Verizon Wireless doesn't have a record of the account number, and there is nothing about any of this on any of my credit reports. Calls to Pinnacle have been unanswered and unreturned. Any suggestions about what to put into the letter for validation that I am writing?

I received a call from them saying my ex is filing a formal complaint against me, and me or my attorney needed to call them in a time sensitive manner. He gave me his name and telephone number and the case number, and said it involved my name and social secuity then the next day i got another call asking for information in finding my ex. And involving ss.with the same number and case number. And to call him. If a real firm wants to find you -they can thru drivers liscense or ss number. These are scams and do not contact them back.

hi paul; I have been researching payday loan laws and still have a question- I have 2 payday loans by different co.'s, neither of which is licensed in ca. Now I find out their practices are illegal here in ca. I'm on the eternal refi cycle but have paid enough to cover original loan amt. What can I do to end this? can
