I am at my wits end, I have about $20k worth of credit card debt and the interest rates are all at or above 25%, I was recently on the Chase help plan for the last 12 months which brought that rate down to 15%, I took advantage of it paying it down quite a bit, I have a debt left with them for about 6k discover is about 5k and citi is about 5k along with an HSBC menards card with about 3k on it. How can I get on help programs with these folks, I have called and called with no avail.

This may not be a good topic to bring up. If not, my apologies. But I just found your site, and I have done a lot of research. I am starting my process of ridding myself from internet payday loans tomorrow. And i am very grateful to all of you for this priceless information I have found on this site. So, my question: What horror stories have you guys experienced while going through this process? Such as phone calls at work, mail, mail at work, etc.? I have no problem dealing with them when they call my personal phone. But my work phone is another story, that I'm really worried about.

I have a chase credit card that I owe 10,000 on. I received a letter from an attorney which I called and they said if I pay a lump sum they would take 20% off or I would have to make payments on the whole amount. What should I do? Will they reduce more than 20%?

I was here about 3/4 years ago and now am back and have some questions. I was just served a summons today 3/27/2011. The date on the paper work is 2/9/2011. 1) It says i have 30 days to answer. Is it 30 days from today or the date on the paperwork. 2) SOL for Oregon is 6 years or 10. I looked but thought I saw one that said 6 yrs and one that said 10 years. I do have more questions but will wait until these are answered and do some more research. thanks.

I recently received a letter from a collections agency for a medical bill from over a year ago. I was not aware of anything being owed, and as far as I was concerned, services were rendered at the time of the appointment. I sent them a validation letter, requesting proof as found from sample letters here on this site. They replied fast, telling me that they have now reported my account to the credit bureaus, and I can contact them to pay if I want to have it removed.

Hi Guys; How do you know if there is a Judgment against you ... I just received a letter from a debt collection agency that says, there is a Judgment .... but I never received any letter or documentation .... any advise would help. Also, I don't have any debts showing on my 3 credit bureau reports .... can you please advise what this means .... is the debt SOL .... thanks.

I am trying to clean up our credit report. Long story short... My husband had 2 major surgeries 11 months ago. He has 3 items on his CR for various medical treatments. All 3 are from the same CA, Absolute Collect Services. The total combined is around $2,000. Should we try to settle which will do more harm than good in respect to his Credit Score? Does any one know if Absolute Collect Services will do a "Pay for Delete?"
