If you have been sued by a credit card company will it go away if you filed bankruty

I am coming to the point where my bills are coming in and there is just no money to pay them. NONE. Its embarrassing and I hate asking for help from my family. One because this is my fault and Two because they wont let me hear the end of it. I am strongly considering bankruptcy because I have no other choices...Is there anything else I could possibly do? I have been notified of a lawsuit against me. The lady said this debt ( fingerhut ) was started in 1995 and that i made a payment ( or something in 2008 ). When i questioned it she said she was confussed and would get back 2 me. then she called today and said Midland WANTED ME to come up some kind of notice saying that I made a payment . ( cancelled check, etc ) I cannot honestly remember owing somebody since 1995 or making any payments. They dont have my ssn and they have my date of birth wrong. My court date is April 18. Any advise would help.

This is not for me. It's for my boyfriend who has a couple thousend debet and would also like to borow a few extra thou to buy a bout moter. All up he needs about $7500.00 to cover everything. I got a call about the mypaydayloan.com account and first thing the account is not past due yet according to their records it happens tomorrow, so the woman calls me and tells me she is going to send a debt validation letter to me and she quoted my address.

Here it goes: Total debt= 65000 Situation=Both my wife and I lost our jobs in June and July 2010. Credit outstanding= BOA 19000 Settled 5000. 93 days to pay balance. Halfway Done. Chase 12000. Civil summons received. 180 Days end of March. Still calling once or twice a week. Best Settlement Offer 8200. They want full payment 220 a month for 60 months.

I need to write a letter to improve my credit report. I need to get the debt collector and the original creditor to make changes to mark my record as “Paid in Full.” I guess I need to have the collector to remove the negatives and the original credit to mark as “Paid in Full.” However, I do not know if I write just one letter making my request to the collector or write to both the collector and creditor separately. I have been looking at the sample letters at debtconsolidationcare.com I do not see a letter that covers both. Can someone help me on choosing the correct letters?
