I was enrolled in a graduate program at a public university in Texas last Fall. I paid for my tuition in cash and took out a subsidized and unsubsidized loan to cover living expenses. I dropped one of my classes and failed the other two. The university claims they tried to contact me regarding my enrollment situation (whether or not I actually performed poorly or if I just stopped attending classes), but I never received any correspondence. When I went online to download my 1098-t, I noticed I had a past due balance to the university.

So I just got served for a debt with chase bank. over $4k I have no idea if its legit. I'm currently unemployed, looking. I'm supposed to answer within 20 days or they will place a judgement. I do want to avoid that but I have NO assets, what can they possibly do? The letter came from Attorny John Vaughn in Phoenix. any advice?

Well I go to the mailbox and low and behold, a collection letter from RJM for a fingerhut account. I about pitched a fit...I JUST got this account last month, I haven't even gotten my first statement! I got this account to buy some new kitchen stuff I needed and get to start rebuilding credit..win-win. Until I get this letter. SO I call RJM very hot under the collar and demand to know what is going on (this is before I call fingerhut) They go through the typical speel..is your name XXXXX..is the last four of your social XXXX...yes?

I received a call from Griggs and Associates (GNA) out of Austell Ga. They are saying that i owe 2500 for a payday loan that was taken out in 2008 in the amount of $500.00. They have threaten to contact my job, the bankruptcy court to say I'm in violation and have me arrested for check fraud. I'm in Tennessee and I just don't know what to do.. I have checked with the State of Tennesse and they are not a registered collection agency. I have asked them to send me a validation notice but they say they no longer send those out. They are saying this PDL was from Ace Express in Memphis.

HI Have never received any paperwork in writing of any kind. Was receiving continuous calls from 877-801-8409 claim to be first national arbitration. Now receiving calls from Marshall Bailey that he is a process carrier and needs to schedule a meeting for me at work to accept court documents. He claims I need to call the 877 number above, the petitioner, for information on why he has to serve this document. I don't want to call this scam number..any suggestions. Not sure what this about--I have a couple of payday loans (all illegal) I stopped allowing bank charges on.
