I had a personal loan with Fleet Bank that was paid in 2001. It reports on my credit report with a "0" balance and I have a report from my debt consolidation program saying it is paid in full. However, it's been 10 years and the payoff letter I received from the bank was destroyed in a flood. Now I have an agency Portfolio Recovery Services calling me saying I owe $2K on this account. They want me to fax my info which is fine. What concerns me is that Fleet Bank no longer exists, there is no way for me to get more proof.

What if you you have pay day laons and medical bills and behind on utilities. I would like to geta debt consolidation loan and have one low payment. I fieel better if eveything is paid off and the I wodl be willing to set it up so payments could be taken right out of my account.

Hello, I am a caretaker for both of my parents of whom are very ill. One has altzheimer's (severe stage) the other has congestive heart failure. Both take meds on a monthly basis totaling $350 - $400 a month as well as the cost of their groceries. I asked some family members to help with the cost until I can find affordable prescription/drug coverage for them. Anyway, I received the money thru a bank account that was opened for that purpose under my name. Unfortunately, when I went to buy their meds and groceries, used the bank card, it didn't go through.

do i have to share my employer and what bank i use with a collector when trying to settle a debt?

They threatened me with garnashment of social security wages etc and hung up cursed etc. It took many calls but I spoke to someone a gentleman and told him I was on Social Security and they were Harrasing etc We settled for $10 a month I have another ? The catalog company of Amiri mark. I ask them repeaditaly to close the account. They keep charging me and calling> I have there number blocked. They said they would close the account and never did. Is there anything I can do to have them close the account. I sent it in writting and by email.

i just got a pdl loan and thought it was wierd that i got a call from unknown source so i looked up pdlnowloan.com scam and found this message board I am screwed... i don't want this loan now... what are my options...i am currently calling my bank to tell them that i got a loan and found out it was a scam and to put a block on them... what else can i do?

I have an outstanding debt. I am being told I owe $2073.52. This debt is listed as a Verizon Calling Card from 1999-2000. What kind of information should I ask to receive to verify this debt? And what should I do to settle this manner. I do not have that kind of money laying around. And why haven't I heard about this debt sooner than 10 years later? Thank you.

Hi- Started my journey in late September with 6 cards in 20k debt. Today I received my first settlement offer from Juniper/ Barclays for 50% of balance. I haven't reached the 120 day mark, yet, so I'm going to call them back next week to see if I can get them down to 25%. Thanks again to everyone on this forum. I'm so relieved that this journey is coming to fruition - I was very worried at first. DWD:D

:DI have a creditor that wants me to pay off a old credit card debt, which I am able to do, but I have been scamed two times, and the first time, I lost $200.00, the second time, is when I found out it was a scam and was able to stop things from happening. Since I have been scamed twice, I am now a little leary of who is or isn't a creditor. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of Mercantile Innovative Solutions, or Security Credit Services. I have till the end of the month to pay this debt off, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

I just received a letter from a collection agency to settle a debt with Capital One. I have agreed to the settlement offer but the letter is not signed. It has the name and company's logo on the top of the page and seems legit but what is bothering me is the letter is not signed. The one positive is the payment is not going to the agency but rather Capital One Bank USA N.A.
