I am receiving a Severance settlement my employer advised the collection process thtIwas employed then three days later I was laid off. I am 60 years of age it is doubtful I will be employed again. I am now receiving a severance payout can this be garnisheed?

Last year, I had my bank account garnished by a debt collector for a debt they bought from Bank of America from a credit card I had with them. I tried negotiating with them to settle the debt but they simply wouldn't budge on anything. Eventually I discovered that in my state (Missouri) up to $400 of fund in your bank account is immune to garnishment, I sent the appropriate governement forms requesting the garnishment be lifted, and it eventually is. More than a year has passed and I never heard from the debt collector.

was getting calls from Delbert services my original loan was $1000 they wanted $2500 - all of a sudden calls stopped and called delbert they advised tht they could not find anything on me - I have only paid $250 have they ceased or do you think it was bought again by another creditor

I am wondering if anybody has dealt with SWB Funding. This Layla person is very big A**hole. She will not listen, does not care that I sent a letter to her company revoking everthying and to stop calling me. I took a loan for $300, To date with $90 withdrawls have paid $900. I live in Florida.

If wages are being garnished from unemployment overpayments what can be done??? My fiance, the soul provider of our family of 5, recently has begun to have his wages garnished for this reason and we cannot survive without his full pay check!!! To make matters worse, he supposedly owes the state of Minnesota for this overpayment 16000.00!!! Yep, 16 THOUSAND dollars!!! Like who in the heck can pay that back!!! I have heard that bankruptcy might not do anything at all because it is a debt owed to the state, does anyone know if that is true?

Hello, in the last several week my family have been getting calls about me committing credit fraud in my county. I had two payday loan in 2011. One with eastside lenders and the other with MMG. I guess now they have sold these loan to 3rd party collections agency. So Wolfe & associates is calling for MMG and Check services is calling for eastside lender all day everyday and anybody. Someone showed up to a family members house on Tuesday to issue me a summon not sure for which one. I contacted both agency today.

I need some advice have received calls at work and home one from Berman and Rabin PA for Hydra Finanical - stating that I need to close this loan by end of Jan or they will pursue legal actiion the other one from a group called URG they are representing Mass Street Group they have advised that if I dont pay by the end of the month they will send over legal documents - I need help please advise if these are legal in Michigan and also what I can do

I have question about garnishments. If a person owes on credit cards and can not pay, and the creditors get a judgement to garnish wage, can the spouse's wage be garnished? The the person owing the money has no employment. And is the only person owing the debt...spouse is unaware of credit cards and did not sign for them.
