Is credit counseling good?

Has anyone ever heard of this company? This just left a voicemail saying that they're going to send the authorities to my workplace and disclose the the charges, but they didn't say for what. I called the number left, 855-603-4518, and they tell me it was with a PDL with Bottom Dollar. I've had many, but NEVER with them and I have no reason to lie about that. What do I do? They gave me the address 2309 N.

Hello. My joint checking account with my husband was levied this past Tuesday, Jan, 31,2013. On the following Friday, I recieved a letter from the bank showing a pink slip from the county clerk's office of a non-wage garnishment for $2,460.60. In the paperwork, it said the funds would be held for 21 days. I had $340 balance in the account, and they held all of that. I had $188 worth of bills that came in the next day which now my acct. is showing overdrawn. I called the creditor holding the levy, Morgan and Pottinger the day I found out and got no answer.

Is it safe to order? They offer free checks

Hi, I'm looking for some information on debt collection practices, whats legal and whats not. For over a year I have been harrassed by many different companies (most won't give me their information, trust me I've asked) for old debts I no longer owe or debts I am in the process of working out. These people have called me at work, home and now I've really got trouble.

I don't know if I've seen a thread on this but I have seen several threads reporting that Delbert is now posting 30 (60 in my case) day past due updates on the credit reports of former Western Sky customers. I checked my Experian report today and saw it for myself. It's a bummer but the good news is the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) is finally taking action against them (see the link below).

Hello, I just filed for a chapter 13 but I am really concerned about being able to make the proposed payment, approx $1800 a month. Meeting with trustee is over a month away. I actually retained a lawyer back in October and paid his fees by Nov. 1, but he didn't file until a week ago when I got garnished and we "rushed" through the paperwork to get things filed that day.

Going through a divorce. Legal fees have caused me to be unable to pay all credit cards. I'm 90 days late on a few cards totaling about $80K in debt. Wife is trying to cut me out of assets and may leave me with less assets than my share of the debt. I'm trying to negotiate that I take on the debt (at full value) and then negotiation with the companies later for settlement at 50% value.

My mom passed away last month. she was on ssi and had nothing. what little she did have is having to pay for her cremation and funeral cost. I have no clue how many creditors she had, what is the time line I have to give them in regards to any payments if there is anything left over. Am i supposed to try to find out what debt she has? Just really confused.

General question: a student takes out a subsidized stafford student loan in 1989 as an unemployed, single, unmarried student. Misses three days of class due to a death in the immediate family. When she returns, she is informed that she has been dropped from the school. No income of course these loans went into default. Now, 20 years later the student gets married, her new husbands income tax return was intercepted for the loan she acquired BEFORE he was ever in the picture. IS THIS LEGAL? WHAT ARE HER OPTIONS? SHE IS NOT WORKING ONLY HE IS. THEY BOTH HAVE HEALTH ISSUES.
