I have a credit card debt that this company is trying to collect. A few weeks ago I sent them a settlement letter, they called me over the phone to say that they would accept the amount I was offering. I then told them that in order for me to send them my payment in full I would like their agreement in writing.

Someone from this number 1-408-310-4146 x 5001 called and I talked to a Mike Croft then a Mark Thomas they are stating that they are from State Investigation department and that I owe 1035.28 on a payday loan that I will be convicted of 3 counts of fraud if I do not pay them. All had foreign accents and they had all my information where I worked, my fathers name and even said that he would be charged as well cause I listed him as a referrence. I don't know if I should call him back and make arrangements or am I being scamed? Please help!!!

i am recieving calls from client services regarding two credit cards i had, one was a shell master card and the other was a home depot card, both held by citibank. the total of the 2 cards is $305.00. medical problems and bills prevented me from paying them. citibank also canceled my shell card for no reason. it was aways paid in full every month. my question is i can client services contact my friend about the shell card.? she was a AU, not the primary account holder. she also was not on the home depot card.

I have received a letter from Dominion Law Associates stating that they will be proceeding with legal action against me for their client Barclays Bank if I do not send them $1757.55. I do not owe Barclays this amount, but this is the amount that Barclays submitted to the credit agency as being owed even though they charged off the $955 (actual amount). The letter does not state that I have 30 days to dispute this debt. Dominion Law Associates is located on the East Coast of Virginia and I live in SW Virginia (7 hours away).

I'm wondering about something. How does it look to answer a summons and deny the debt, yet in your affirmative defenses, use beyond SOL? It just seems that either you deny the debt or by saying it is beyond SOL, then you're not actually denying the debt - you're just saying you can't be sued because it is time barred.

Through a series of unfortunate events, my husband has accumulated a significant amount of debt with Citibank. Out of desperation, we enrolled with a debt settlement company and have been working with them for the past year. We got an email today from the company saying they cannot settle with private student loans (after I had asked them repeatedly if we could). There have been a couple of people on this forum saying DCS offered to settle with them. Does anyone know for a fact if you can settle private student loans?
