is going to a credit counseling a good thing or bad?

I have two payday loans and I cannot even find a way to contact these people? They are very good at hiding from me until my payday comes around!:confused:

Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of debt settlement with a company and we just struck our first deal with AX for 50% over 4 payments. But the story is not about me, believe it or not but I want to get some advice before it happens to me. My agent from the settlement company told me that he just had a case where American Express took an account back from a collection agency after a settlement deal had been reached. Apparently, this started happening this month.

Horray! I've completed all of my debt settlements. It was a brutal task, but it's done. Now I'm onto the next phase: Credit Repair. I'm writing a Goodwill Letter which I plan to send out to all of my creditors asking them to remove the negative reporting such as the late payments and settlements. I've read the sample goodwill letter, which was good.

I had an old credit card with providian bank, sometime around 1998 which i disputed. Providian never responded and has been transfered to numerous collection co. since that time. Is this still a valid debt. My credit score is quite positive. Now NAFS is sending me a letter.

Started receiving phone calls at work today from "Officer Kevin Stone" of the Bureau of Identification. My boss took the message and told him not to call me at work ever again. He said he sounded like an arab or some other middle eastern person. He gave the number 901-290-7208. I looked it up and it is a landline in Arlington, TN.

i received notice of a 1987 debt from a store now owned by someone else, dischrged in Chp 7 bnkrupcy in 1987! i did give them my ss -should i worry? ALW Sourcing is the collection for WFnnb? will they accept these Bk ppers?

I'm just curious, if this forum is to help people get out of the payday loan trap - why does it have ads for PayDay lenders on it?

Brief Stats on me: California Resident Male Age 34 No children Single In Good Health University Educated Assets: I own no car I own no house I own no cell phone (I really don't ever want to own any of the above 3 items ever again. I live a pretty frugal lifestyle and I like it that way.) I am currently starting my own computer servicing business. I am a computer genius so it will eventually make money.

LVNV funding has been harassing me for about 2 years now about a charge that none of their collectors have been able to prove, nevertheless, they have now included this issue on my credit report. I have asked on every occasion for a copy of the alleged bill but they just tell me that they are collecting on behalf of a department store for which I do not even hold a credit card with. Does anybody have any idea of what I should do to stop these leeches and to clear my credit report ? Thank you, Ray
