Hi there - A couple years ago I got sued by a creditor for a vehicle that had been repossesed. Went to court, worked out payment arrangements, paid for a year, hit extremely hard times (cut out the sob story lol) and stopped paying. All of a sudden, (2 years later) I notice my paycheck is short. Come to find out there is a garnishment on it. In the tune of almost $400 a month it will be. I was never informed that I was going to have a garnishment. Nothing was ever sent to me, anything. I am a single mom with 3 kids, and can NOT afford to have this money taken out of my check.

I have an auto that has a charge off amount and a write off amount. The original lender is not the lender that charged off the account. I spoke with someone on behalf of the lender that charged off the acct about 8 months ago(I guess it was the person coming to repo) and told him were the vehicle was. Several months have passed without a word from the lender so I figured that they had picked up the vehicle. Now I'm getting phone calls threatening felony charges being made against me because they said the vehicle hasn't been picked up. Can you please tell me what I can do about this situation?

Firstly, I'd just like to thank everyone on this site that posts great info as well as moral support. It's easy to get down with all this debt hanging over our heads, so it's nice to go to a place where others understand. The card was a less than a week to charge off. I've been trying to get this card settled for months. They would call every few days, I'd always return their calls, and just let them know I couldn't afford their offers. My balance was right about 15k. The first offers were about 75%, then 55% a month later, 45%, etc.

Anyone received 50% settlement from discover ? I gotta say discover has to be pain in the butt creditor. All long I was told I would never receive less than 65% and payment is due first before any settlement letter is out. Than suddenly after crap load of days being past due I get on the phone with manager who offered 50% and settlement letters first. Talk about associates vs managers. Discover employees can't tell form left to right. Got to say B of A has been the smoothest creditor to deal with.

After that, I received a welcome packet that said that I needed to change my contact number and also mailing address with all of my creditors to the numbers and address specified by PFS (in MA). It also instructed me not to discuss my association with PFS with my creditors and to politely hang-up on them when they call.

I've been trying to negotiate to pay down a closed account with Citicard, but some of the balance (around $5000) is a promotional balance - not a clue what that is. They will not negotiate because of that. I offered to make a $350 - 400 / month payment at 0% until loan is paid. They told me to get into debt management to get around this loophole. Do you guys negotiate with Citicard. The amount is $26,000 (some of that is late fees, interest, etc.)

I had a credit car originally through Providian visa then Washington Mutal bought them out then when the economy went down hill Chase Bought them out. They have charged me with interest and Attorney fees of $10,000 i need help can someone help me. I tried to call and they would only settle for 8k i only make 16k a year. In 2008 i only made 9k and last year $16k and they won't work with me what do i do i can't afford an attorney.I only have proof of the last bank statement from them of 29.99% interest rate with a $8500bal dated last year.
