So what do you do when you get two letters from two separate collection agencies (Lighthouse Recovery Associates and CRSI) collecting for the same pdl (money and more)showing two different amounts owed and I have written proof through email coorespondence that I paid the loan in full and that they can no longer loan to Pa residents. How do I respond to these two collection agencies. thanks for any advice. DL

Please help me here! We have overdrawn our account by 1000 + dollars. I have a very friendly hometown bank, but I'm afraid and don't know what to ask them. There was a huge mixup on checks written out by my bf and I didn't record....thus the cascade. One of my friends said that bank may let us put a hold on that account and open a new one and pay that overdraft back in payments. If they don't, my whole check and then some will be sucked up and we will never ever get out of this hole.

i had a collection agency call who when they first called only stated that they were calling from an attorneys office in Washington, he relayed to me that i need to send them immediately 800.00 for a 300.00 payday loan which if not sent by tomorrow will amount to 5,000.00--what are my rights i am willing to pay it off --it defaulted because i was layed off at the time am i not entitled to set a payment plan.

Ok...have a number of cards to settle (5) and have completed one with Advanta last month... $20k balance settled with collection agency for 25% was +190 days past due...regardless a good start. Now working on HSBC. I'm currently 90 days past due and have had no contact with them or taken any of their calls....Today I received a letter from them offering me 60% on a $6200 balance payable over 6 months....my question is has anyone else got this offer and how sucessful and how quickly were you able to get to alower %?? i.e.

Is there a time frame that a CA must respond to a DVL? I sent one certified mail last month, today is the 30th day and still no response from them.

I have been recieving phone calls from FIA searching for someone who is not related to myself. Althought the individual FIA is searching for has the same last name I have no relation to them. I called FIA to have my # removed from the list. They would not comply. Is there anything I can do??

What is a reasonable fee to expect to pay for credit card settlement?

I had been faced with a summons and an affidavit from Cavalry Portfolio and a debt I didn't recognize. I didn't know anything about default judgments or what to do, but thanks to Skydivr and this forum - I finally got things in order. Today was the court date and before I entered the court building, I was stopped outside by the plaintiff's attorney and he wanted to talk about the case. He was nice and polite as he introduced himself. I had been doing my homework for several weeks and had my file folder ready, which he noticed.

In feb of this year, I hired a lawyer to represent my husband in a court case filed br a credit card company. The court date was in april. Icalled my lawyer around the 19th of April and asked him what the outcome was he told me me it was going to negoiations and another court date would be in July. Today I received Final Judgement papers to be filled out I called my lawyer, he was as surprised as I was and told me he would take care of it and I should not worry. What should I do?
