debt settlement

15 years 9 months ago
I recently used Debt Center America and they were very upfront about the fees and effects on credit. My credit was already toast due to a divorce. They offered something that none of the other companies contacting me were offering. They sell a subscription ($49.00 a month) to their website and the website does all the settling through some kind of automated system. All the letters are standard form letters written by attornies. The best part was that i could log into the website and see the progress as it occured.

Anyone heard of ADR?

15 years 9 months ago
Has anyone heard of a "process server" called ADR. THe number is 877-316-8290. This person keeps calling and leaving threatenting messages about a complaint against me, how he has the authority to give me one last chance to take care of it before serving my file, gives me a case number, etc. It all sounds very scary, but in my head I know it's a bunch of BS. But, I can't find anything on this ADR and the number search doesn't really turn much up. Any clues out there? Pickles

Questions about recording calls

15 years 9 months ago
I've been reading some of the posts about debt collectors and the proper way they should contact you and what they should say. I also saw about recording the conversations. I'm in a one party state, so does that mean I "have" to let them know I'm recording, or just that since "I" know . . . then I'm the one party informed? I'm just trying to figure out how this works. If they know you are recording, they probably aren't going to say this improper stuff, so what good would it do to try and even record them?

I’ve been doing this for almost two years now and it’s just getting worse. I don’t see any way out of this and I need help quick, fast and in a hurry. Any suggestions??? Thanks for your help.

Statute of Limitations

Is there a statute of limitations in Virginia on a debt? I have a 9+ year old debt that I cannot pay off or make installments on due to being on disability and no outside income.

Mcm are the devil of credit

15 years 9 months ago
this is not a question, these people take your information and commit fraud. i have yet to find a way to get this off my husbands credit, the minute we get it off they put it right back on his credit. we have proof that these are false invoices, we have spoke to each of our credit card companies that we paid them off through and they have both stated to turn them in for fraud!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY! Call your orginal credit card company and they will tell you who has your account and they will give you the correct information, NEVER NEVER believe anything that comes through the mail!!!!

Collection Call Scam?

15 years 9 months ago
I am continually working to get out of this payday loan mess that I created for myself. Today I received two separate phone calls from two separate collection agencies, both saying they represent the same payday loan company? The collection agencies are National Credit Adjusters and Advanced Credit Recovery. They each reference a different file number and they each have different call back numbers. When I contacted both of them they told me they were representing Access Processing for a loan that I took out. The original amount was $300 plus the $90 fee. They state I owe $510.

United Cash Loans

I took out a loan from United Cash Loans back in October 2009 for $300 plus the $90 fee. I refinanced or rolled the loan over 4 times and then hit the paydown of $50. On February 1, 2010, I closed my bank account and told them that I consider the account paid in full since I paid above and beyond the original amount borrowed. They call me everyday, twice per day and they keep on demanding that I pay the balance of $65, which I am NOT going to do. What legal action can I take, since they continually abuse the cease and desist letter that I sent to them? I live in Arizona.
