I paid this company over $300/mo for a year or more and never had a single payment made towards my creditors nor was ever reimbursed. What can I do to get my money back?

I am trying to reach a settlement with them, they offered and agreed to the settlement, but refused to send the paper, insisted that I pay by posted date check before they send, then they said they sent but I have not received anything for few weeks. I am anxious trying to pay them the amount, but want to have it in paper first..

is this company legit or shall i say legal will they get money out of your account.

Allied Interstate a third party collection agency for Old Navy offred me 40% balance $4300 for payment of $1720 , they are faxing over a settlement letter right now but said need the first payment of $200 done through ACH (checking) then next two payments from money order is this ok? Citi finally accepted our offer. However, they say that they never sent letters of the settlement untill the payment has been cleared. That can take a month easily. They also said not to worry and go ahead with the payment before charge off (in 2 weeks) The settlement is in their system per their word We did request the letter but they can not guarantee it. They will send us the letter that the debt was settled and we don't owe anything but only after the payment. Should i pay? The offer we have is for 30% roughly so we don't want to miss out on it. Any suggestions?
