Finally a call from Advanta that is from the US and english speaking.His name is Eric Knapp and he gave me his direct number. Made me feel like he was my friend. Right. He says he is the next level of collections. Offered harship program of 3.99 % for 12 months then goes to 16.9 OR fixed 9.9% for 5 years. I asked for settlement of 10% (why not shoot for the stars) and he said they could AND would ONLY ever do .75 on the dollar. I am 64 days past due. He said I have until Friday and then it goes to the next collection level.

Anyone heard of Federal Recoveries? I spoke with a nice lady named Cathy. She said she is not a collections agency they are hired to collect on the bounced check. And that I have 30 days to pay $294.13. She said that she is mostly hired by department stores to help with getting money from bounced checks. This was an internet payday loan taken out 12/08 for $250. I did default, I had to close my bank account. I thought I got to all the PDL but I must have missed Advance America. My question is, since they are not a debt collector, can they sue me for a bounced check?

Federal Recoveries are going to pursue litigation due to a bounced check for Advance America. They say I have 30 days to pay $315. This is a loan from 12/08. I did default, because I had to close the account. I had many PDL and thought I got to all of them about my closed account. Apparantly I overlooked them.

Most of their posts are copy and pasted content, I checked and found a lot are.

I am trying to work out a payment plan with 5 cso's in texas...can anyone give me any good feedback on attempting to do this with these companies: Ace Cash Express Cash Central Payday one Cashnet USA My CashNow.... I am wanting to pay them back on a six month repayment plan...any advice would be great!

The collection agency Mann Bracken in California has shut down - about 3-4 motnhs ago including their office in Georgia that is bankrupt.. They currently are still collecting my wage garnishments through a levying officer. I'm concerned as to where my money is going. Especially since I have case with state attorneys in California and Georgia. Does anyone know how I would proceed in either stopping anymore payments or find out how I can get a settlement letter for a company that no longer exists?

Hello, Here is my question, was deployed for a year and my BB CC got out of control while I was overseas. Now been back for a month was working on taking care of this BB balance. But before I could do anything, the account is now showing closed and I have this "Resurgent" company calling me with options on how to clear this debt. I'm very little knowledge in the world of debt and am looking for any guidelines on how to approach this situation and handle it without getting "taken" by the collections company? Thanks Taylor

Portfolio Recovery Associates mailed me a collection bill for a SEARS account. Never had a SEARS account. Called SEARS, spoke with their fraud division. They do not have my SS number in their database. I called the Portfolio Recovery Associates toll free number to advise them they had the wrong guy. They were rude, insisted it was me but are sending forms to complete to dispute the debt. Why should I respond at all to these hyenas when I do not now nor have I ever had a SEARS accunt? What kind of scam are they up to?

I recently got a letter from Bridgestone and Assoc in Golden Valley, MN for a debt. I sent them a validation letter and never received a reply. Then the other day i got a summons to court in August for the amount they say I owe. They never replied to my validation letter. Can I do anything? I have confirmation they got the letter, but they never sent a reply. What should I do.. wait until august and show the court my information that they never replied
