I have about $1000 taken out of my account every pay day and I can't afford it anymore. I don't want to close my checking account because I am afraid I won't be able to open a new one because of it. One puts me further behind so I fall into the trap and get another one. I wanted to do consolidation program, but the loan companies obviously don't participate. What can I do?

How realistic is it for someone with bad credit to get a jewelery store card or financing? I'm not looking to get something out of my price range or something like that, just wondering how it works.

hello, here is my situation: about 3 years ago a contractor was hired to perform remodeling work on my house. the contractor was doing work that was sub-standard and he was fired about 6 months into the project. despite his substandard work, I have paid him 100% of what was owed for the work performed and we amicably parted ways. last week I received a collection letter from a California collection agency (I live in IL) that I owe on some debt to the contractor mentioned above in excess of $15k. I was floored. this was the 1st time I have even heard of this.

Does anyone know who this number belongs to? They just called and could not make heads or tails out of anything but the phone number, It came across the caller Id as Unknown Number. Any would very nice Thank You

On 01/23/2010 I sent out Validation notices to 3 places. On 02/02/2010 I recieved the last green card with signature on it. One of these places responded 2 weeks later saying they will that they will remove the entry on my reports. The other 2 have failed to remove or respond. What is my next step?

I recieved a letter regarding my credit card debt which is now in collections. The letter said that if I can pay $1500 of the $2800 that I owe right now, they will accept that as "payment in full." Will this have a positive effect on my credit, or will they show the remaining $1300 as a write-off that will have a negative effect?
