I had a judgment with a collection agency and i made an agreement and paid half of it. things went bad and i could not pay them the rest. within two and a half years it went through tow collection agencies " attorneys". I sent this last one LACY KATZEN LLP in Buffalo, NY to validate and all they sent me was a copy of the original judgment. Then after that, they sent me a Restraining notice with information subpoena, threading me to proceed with legal actions. Can anyone help me on what should i do next. Thank you everyone.

Has anyone used Equifax's new debt management tool, Debt Wise? I've seen a few commercials for the product on television and was wondring if anyone has tried the product? I checked out the Debt Wise web site, and it looks like a relatively simple product to use, but I just wanted to see if anyone has tried it or heard anything about it? Thanks!

Hi all, first time poster and reader. I am a 24 year old who has spent the last 3 years of my life not worrying about anything. I have been contacted by General Revenue Corp. stating that I owe aprrox. $20k on behalf of Sallie Mae. I know I do owe this money and am prepared to make monthly payments from 200-300$. These loans are student loans that I defaulted on years ago and am now about to face the music. I need help in the following areas, I have no idea what kind of loans they are; federal or private? I've read there is a huge difference.

there is a poster that goes by the name of RIOT.they are not registered,but they include their cell number at the bottom of each post.i noticed his number has been deleted by not just me.they also keep starting they are starting a business soon.does anybody else find this as a solicitation as i do?

I have a collector contacting me every other day about a payday loan I took out in 2006. I talked to the collector once on the phone. Stated that this was discharged in BK. However, he went on to talk over me, stating that I wrote a bad check, and on and on and on. I hung up on him and left it at that. Now, what I have done is logged the times and dates that they have called. WA state is a two party state so I have did not record that one conversation we had. I'm not scared because I know my rights. My BK has been discharged for over a year.

Checksmart's corporate office has me ready to scream!! I defaulted on an 800.00 loan with them last month, & currently owe them a little over 1000.00. I have received almost daily calls from "Tom" in the corporate office. The first time I talked to him, I told him I am not trying to get out of the debt but can't pay it in full. He made several suggestions, none of which I agree with or am able to do, such as borrowing the money from someone, using my tax refund, or paying the loan then reborrowing again. Then he said it had to be paid in 2 payments of 500.00 each by the end of the month.

Does anyone have information on an internet site called pdlnow.com? I have offered to pay off my loan my sending them the money and they refuse to offer a physical address. They say the only way to pay it off is access to a checking account. I have paid them 228 in fees for an original loan amount of 200. Since they refuse to offer a physical address or accept money in any way but access to a checking account, I am very suspicious.

If you have delinquent medical bills incurred in a different state, but were living in Texas, does the Texas SOL and state laws regarding garnishment apply or would it be the state SOL & laws where the debt was incurred? If payment is made to a CA for these debts, do I first get something in writing from the CA stating that payment is made in full and that they will remove the ding on the CR once payment is made? Also, what's the likelihood that a CA would remove the interest attached to the debt? Thank you.

I had a Capital One credit card and stopped paying in 06 for some stupid reason. I decided a few months ago to clean my credit up and pulled my report. I contacted capital One to pay off and was referred to some law firm/collection agent. I had no intention of negotiating the debt and asked what I owed and promptly paid it. My credit report now reads that I paid in settlement. I have called Capital One and just get the run around. The collection agency says they are out of it and that Capital One is the one putting it on my credit report. I just want to get what is correct on my report.

I have stopped paying two of my credit cards. When they start calling looking for payment do I try to talk to them about settleing right away or do I wait a couple of missed payment to bring it up or do I let them bring it up?
