Hello all. I have a pretrial very soon on a case brought against me by a debt collector. They filed with the court and the proof they provided was nothing. It was a piece of paper with an amount on it, the collectors company name and my name. I know they filed a summons for HSBC to send them info or show up earlier this month. I had no idea about how to go about this at all. My answer was written while I was on painkillers for a fractured rib. But the judge accepted it.

I was unemployed last year for 7 months due to awaiting and recovering from spinal surgery. In that time as one can guess current bills and new bills have since added up to amounts that leave us in the hole every month. I am attending school full time and am hoping that with this years FAFSA I will qualify for pell grants and we plan on using student loans. The issue is, with the work that I do I am unable to work full time, not to mention not being sure if I can work full time and do school full time. I am enrolled full time as we speak.

I was also wondering if they are legally allowed to make any collection efforts legally in the state of Illinois and if not fully intend to report them to the AG. Thanks in advance. -Mindy

I just found out my bank account was cleaned out by a debt collector. My husband and I were making payments after being served. Unfortunately during this time, my husband was in a serious motorcycle accident. He was stopped at a red light and hit by some uninsured girl. He then got laid off his job. You can see where this is going. We now have no money to pay our rent, pay our utility bills etc. Any suggestions? Can they take every penny and not leave us anything to live on? I've tried calling the debt collector and it's comical.

I have found out that 7 of my 8 pay day loans are illgal in my state. Hello all, and thank you for this valuable resource. I have four current pdl's, although one is probably an installment loan. I'm trying to make sense of Pennsylvania pdl laws. The storefronts are illegal, and it seems that internet loans are illegal as well? Anyway, I want to block ach withdrawals or close my checking acct. or some such thing, but don't want to make a bad situation worse. If the internet loans are illegal in PA, am I legally obligated to pay even the principal? I think I have in most cases, but need to know nonetheless.

Just received a letter from Nationwide Credit today telling me they were handling the account. Has anyone ever dealt with them? They told my wife that if she did not call back and accept the offer by 10:00 AM tomorrow they would add a 30% collection fee to the amount. All they are offering is to pay off thecredit card in 12 months at 0% interest.

Has anyone heard of a collection agency the "Bam Group"? I think they are a payday loan collection agency. They said they are coming to my work and home to serve me for writing a bad check. The number they left for me to call them back is 866-688-3560 Thanks

Do the PDLs know about this site? Is that why they send emails stating they contain confidential information, and expect us to sign relases to settle a debt?
