First, I live in PA and have payday loans that are killing me! I live in PA and I was wondering if I can close my bank account to stop them from taking all of my money? Also, when I went on here to look up the state laws it says that payday loans are prohibited in PA. Was it illegal for them to give me a payday loan and should I report it to the info listed below? Long story short- I have just under $20000 in CC debt with 6 different creditors. I enrolled with a debt settlement company in July 2009 but am seriously considering the DIY debt settlement route. I am pretty confident in my ability to have tough skin, which I know is one of the biggest things to keep in mind while doing it yourself. I do, however, have some questions: 1) Chase called me directly and offered 50% settlements on 2 of my 3 accounts with them.

So I am trying to pay off a legal pdl in payments and without thinking I mailed in my payment as a check instead of a money order. Can they draft the entire amount that I owe without my consent? I feel confident that if that did happen my bank would fix it if I didn't authorize it....I guess I am a little jumpy after dealing with illegal pdls. I asked for payment arrangements in writing and they never said no (or yes they didn't respond in any way) and when I called they just told me what my balance was and that I could make payments.

hi everyone, I've been reading these forums for the last month and felt motivated to try to do debt settlement on my own before I thought of hiring a company to do it for me. I have a total of 12 cards, with $89000 total in debt. I was really nervous to start it on my own but it has been easy to settle with Chase and Amex (NCO) so far. Apparently now outback bucks has contracted with Security Check a collection agency in mississippi that collects bad checks to collect there debts. When the letter comes it is listed as Quasar Corporate Services. So I'm going to guess that there really trying to step it up a notch. I have written Security Check telling them there attempting to collect on an illegal pay day loan and should send it back to whomever contracted them saying they can't collect it because it's not legal in Iowa.
