Just wondering if anyone knows if South Carolina is one of the states where debt settlement is legal. Thanks in advance for your help.

I would first like to start out by thanking everyone for their valuable information on helping my wife and I negoatiate our debt. Before I found this site my wife already had a contract with ProCorp. Now that we settled they are being sticklers about refunding the costs. They say that without the previous talks they have had with the banks we would not of gotten the settlements we did. ProCorp has told us that they have sent us numerous emails regarding the settlements, to this day we have not received an email from them. And they have not shown proof of this.

My husband Co-signed a Student loan for my sister... 3years later all the extensions are gone, she's not in school and the loan is about in default.. What can we do about this? Will taking her to court do any good? P.s. She doesn't have a job. She told our mother that her credit is already shot. and if my husband wants to save his - he should be making the payments!! HELP

I sent this collection agency (working for Paycheck Today) a cease and desist/Do not call letter via certified mail. I received the return receipt back two weeks ago. They continue to call and harass me at home and on my cell phone. I have tried to tell them that they cannot call me and they tell me they can call me whenever and wherever they want. I thought that once they got the letter they had to stop? They just keep calling and telling me I have to pay the money. I found out the payday loans were illegal in my state and sent Paycheck Today all the paperwork on it.

Hello, I got a call today form an EMS Enterprises stating I had some bad check thaht had gone into collections from 2006. The woman on the phone threatened that if I did not make a payment arrangement she would forward it to the state and have a "warrant put out for my arrest". Now I know this to be BS, who do I contact to file a complaint against these people? Her scare tactic did not work on me but maybe if I was an elderly peorson or yopunger I might have fallen for the ploy? Thanks -Don
