Hello good people. I am currently trying to help a friend of mine get his finances in order because neither his wife nor he are good with money (his words, not mine—but all evidence points toward it being accurate). While assessing his general situation, we have come across two high-interest loans he is currently struggling to pay off.

Can my credit score change drastically in one month?

While searching for a mortgage loan, the lender told me that my credit score is good. However, I did not take out a mortgage at that time. after about a month, while applying for a credit card, the bank told me that my credit score is not good. How can that happen? Is there any kind of error that I need to fix? I have not defaulted on any payment in that month.

Can I take out a another balance transfer card to consolidate the previous balance transfer card? My previous card was from BoA. I don;t think the same bank will give another such card. Im seeking advice on rectifying a spousal consolidation loan. My spouse was recently garnished and we recieved no notification. I've been trying to find out more information and have called the company listed PHEAA, who told me I had a zero balance and directed me to the state version - who then put me back to PHEAA. FINALLY, after days of research they have sent me information to contact Performant recovery who now has the loan and issue a garnishment (just started) They had very old information and we have not received communication in years.

My main question is should I file bankruptcy or just let them slide

5 years 2 months ago
My main question is should I file bankruptcy or just let them slide into collections? Working with my creditors is not an option because I will not have income for several months. I dont feel that the collection agencies will go after me other than annoying phone calls due to the relatively low balance on my accounts. Also, I have no property that they can place a lien on. 5 years from now will I be better off if I file bankruptcy or just lived with the collection accounts? Thanks!
