Why is credit report not showing RJM Acquisitions account as disputed?

16 years 7 months ago
Hello, I am disputing some entries with RJM Acquisitions. I sent them a debt validation letter which they did receive nearly 30 days ago. However, they are not showing "Disputed" on the accounts that I am inquiring about on my credit reports. Are they allowed to do this or is this some violation?

10% settlement?

16 years 7 months ago
Am I crazy for trying to settle $15K for $1,500? I figured it was worth a shot. Attorney told me to just file chapter 7, seems how my house isn't worth what I paid for it 10 years ago and my only other assets are a couple of cars, KBB value being around $8k for both of them together (one is just a beater), plus I already had to sell my motorcycle. The account was charged off and bought by a local CA, so I guess they are in position to sue. I also have 3 more acounts that were charged off totaling another $10k. My thought was try it as a last resort vs.

Questions about settlement with Chase

16 years 7 months ago
We have $35,000 in credit card debt. My husbands salary has plummetted (he is in Real Estate) and I take care of my 2 disabled children. At this time we are current on all 5 cards but have accepted hardship programs on three of them (FIA, and 2 citi). I have read that Chase is a little easier to settle with and it is our largest balance of $14,000. But I have some questions first. 1. We have had the card for about a year at 0% and this month it is going to 8%. Is it going to hurt my settlement potential that I have had the 0% and haven't paid interest yet?

Student Loan Garnishment

16 years 7 months ago
I was a recent immigrant to this country and I started classes at a four year university back in 1980. I was not aware of the different scholarships available and applied for all the loans that were offered without fully knowing the amount I ended up borrowing. I went to school part-time but unfortunately I did not finish. 25 years later, (in 2004) I noticed 30% of my paycheck was being deducted. Through my supervisor, I was able to contact my employer's payroll department and they gave me the phone number for a collections law firm in the city and state where I used to live.
