Got a letter (well more like a postcard) from Alliance One, we've never dealt with a collection agency before. We have no overdue debts or bills. They say the client is "Your Court Clients". We've never heard of them, and haven't been to court, ever. Tried to call them and got a "voicemail box is full". Is this some kind of phishing scheme? Should we respond?

I tried talking to my bank to get a hard debit hold on my/our account but they stated that I couldn't. What they could do is since these internet payday loans were deposited into our account that money would need to be returned to the payday loan company. That's the only way they could do it? I should also mention that I bank with a credit union.

I would like to know what the effects of settling a credit card will do to your credit report. I am only about 30 days behind on 5 cards total. I have saved and pulled out of investments about 50% of what I owe on the cards. My concern is I do want to selll my home and down size to something afforable. I am currently jobless! My questions are: Can I do this myself? Will it damage my credit report come time to buy a new home? Next is what exactly do I need to say to keep the accounts from saying settled for less than amount owed and runing my credit?

Hello, My husband's wages are to be garnished in NY state. If we move to a non wage garnishment state, can we avoide wage garnishment? As his wife, can my wages or assets be garnished if we move to another state? Thank you

Hi - I have a question in regards to internet payday loans. I have several payday loans that I acquired from internet payday loan companies, some that didn't even email me a copy of the contract some that did. Each week they extract the amount of the processing fee and rollover the loan. Are internet payday loans illegal in the state of Iowa? I'm trying to pay off these loans but it's hard when I can't seem to find daylight at the end of the tunnel and now I have a company harrassing me at work & home for way more than the loan was that I got!

Is anyone currently in debt settlement with Freestar Financial? They have an A+ rating with the BBB. Thanks Terry

Is ther anyone out ther that ahas used Elimadebt for credit card consolidation?

I got a phone call from a Nick Garcia from United States Credit Agency 951-973-7777 said that i have 3 hours to call him back with a payment plan or else they will send out a recomendation for me to go to court over a 300 pay day loan that they wont send me "paper" documentation that I even took out is this legal. What is a recomendation for court or legal procedeings?

I am from RI and internet payday lenders are legal as long as they are licensed in some state. I've tried looking but don't know if these are licensed anywhere EastSide Lenders CMG and VIP cash. Thanks

I had received a call a couple of weeks ago from NRS stating that I needed to pay them around $300 on an old AT & T bill. I told the guy, who says his name is Jason Gray, that I did not have my checking account info. He asked the name of my bank and he found the routing number. I told him I did not know the acct. # and didn't have the number with me at work. He said he would make up a number and I could call back with the right number. I told him no but apparently he proceeded anyway. Obviously the check by phone was returned. He is now threatening to file bad check charges against me.
