How do I find a good Debt Management Company? I have heard horror stories on these programs. They hurt your credit, they charge you large fees, they can't reduce all interest rates (like Sears and American Express). How is a person supposed to know who to use?

has anyone had any dealings with them? I just got a call from an attorney office that said they are sending papers to my job and I have to go to court tomorrow. I have never spoken to anyone since I sent a letter stating that I had overpaid according to Louisiana Law

Ok So I have a few questions. I have two loans Ameriloan Borrowed 350 paid back 280 they say I owe 355 UsFastCash Borrowed 350 havent paid back anything yet I owe 350 Now I just started researching PDL laws for CA. Thats where I live. I plan on paying them back. But is this debt considered legal if they dont have a license in CA? Also do internet loan companies have to have a license to lend in a state or just the state where they are located? Can they take me to court and garnish my wages is the debt and loan where illegal?

Are you able to lower rates with American Express? Does this hurt your credit?

I am looking to consolidate my debts about usd 50,000 to one loan. any organisation out there which can help?

Since finding this wonderful and helpful group of people, I have realized that I have overpaid a few STL and was wondering if I should file a dispute with my bank to have these lenders give back the monies that I overpaid in this format instead of waiting for a refund. Has anyone done this? The bank says I would need to fill out an affidavit of dispute on these items and they would begin their investigation into them. The total amount (between 5 companies) is $1,268.00. All opinions welcome!!

My questions are never ending. I am taking the advice of the wonderful people on here and taking back control of my money from PDL's. I am set to go open a new account this weekend and I just wanted to check a few things.... 1. I stopped paid two checks for PDL'S and made or attempted to make payment arrangements with them. Can those be reported to TeleCheck and CheckSystems? They were not NSF- they were stopped. 2.

I have a capital one credit card that I did not pay back in 2006. Currently it is with some Law firm. Last month they obtained a Judgment against me without even serving me a summon infect they didn’t even have my mailing address. I called them and send them a certified mail for “Debt validation” saying that the amount they are collecting is not accurate "which is for a fact incorrect" and I can pay what I actually owed capital one but they have to take this judgment out from my credit history since I was never aware of this judgment and they have agree on “Pay to delete”.

Has anyone delt with East Side lenders in regards to revolked the ACH payments? I want to do this today but I do not want to get put in a collection agency.
