I have no late payments, can make the minimum monthly payments, and a fair credit score (~630). Does a DMP to lower rates and allow me to paydown faster make sense? Or should I discuss with individual creditors to lower rates?

What do you do after you send a collection agency a debt validation letter and they do not respond?

Hello, I am almost ready to enroll in a debt settlement program for about 25k i have in debt.. BOA - 5900 Chase - 1300 Citi - 3200 Citi (line of credit) - 10500 Discover - 1600 Capital One - 2000 Here is my question. I know that in order for the company to settle the balances they need to let the accounts go deliquent. Does that mean that the CC companies can win my car in a judgment if they choose to go that route? I hate a van for work and a personal car, both registered to me. Should I be worried about this?

Can you tell me if any of these companies are illegal in Minnesota if so I would like to try to retrieve the money I have overpaid them.

If a person is to receive 900 dollars per month from social security disability with a lump sum of 16 thousand dollars due the person. How much of the 16 thou can a defaulted loan garnish? in Tx.

I have just been contacted by Palisades. I do not owe anyone anything. The paper says Verizon North Inc. It's for ocver $5,000. I have never had an account with Verizon. They told me over the phone it was from 1998. Can they do this? Should I call an attorney now or request the validation letter?

I am sorry if this is in the wrong board, someone please move it if it is. I really want to move when my lease is up. I am renting from a person (as opposed to a complex) and I know I pay too much money and it is really is a struggle for me to make rent every month. I also do not live in the safest area and would like to move to somewhere nicer. I have been looking into this and noticed that I can get an apartment in a better town for less money! But they all require credit checks.. I have been late for rent before but never had to go to court over it.

I had a business loan from a bank called Stearns bank that was finance through SBA (Small business loan program) that I defaulted 3 years ago. I don’t see that coming in my personal credit report. Anybody know if that will ever show up on my credit history or since it’s a federal program it might not get it reported?

I am guessing that this is the right place to bring this up, and I kind of hate to bring it up but I think it has to be. Has anyone noticed a lot of the threads on the payday loan help site lately? I know this has been noticed but it seems like a lot of the threads are people trying to rip off the payday lenders. i know that sounds funny coming from me because I was very badly hurt by my loans and i have seen these loans ruin the lives of people i am very close to. however, some of these stories sound crazy!

I am in such PDL H@$$. I have now 13 payday loans and I'm looking to take out another to cover the others. My pay date is on the 30th and I may be able to slide by this time, but I'm running out of time. I have been on a payday loan reliance for years. I take one out, then I need another, and another, and before I know it, it's out of control, the payday loan companies have my entire paycheck plus I need more loans, and finally I need a family member to bail me out.
