debt validation

16 years 10 months ago
I have a question. i live in ny. Can you recieve a debt validation from a collection agency regarding an illegal payday loan? if that happens what is the next move on my part? i have paid 1/2 of the principal on one for the loans and and the whole of the other loan according to them its all roll overs and fees. I filled complaints with the BBB, AG, FTC, FCC and nys dept of banking. the compliant response from the BBB states that of course they did nothinig wrong and did not violate the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and that the debt validation should be forthcoming .

PDL Nightmare

16 years 10 months ago
Hi - first of all I'm thrilled to find a site about PDLs if for no other reason than to know I'm not alone! Here is my situation: I live in Minnesota where payday loans are legal, the PDL company I'm dealing with is Integrity Advance which lists its home office as being in Delaware. Using the link you provided, I found out that in Delaware there are pretty much no limits as to what a PDL can charge (not good!). I took out a $500 PDL through Integrity Advance and have now made a total of $750 in payments.

Credit consultants?? Heard of them?

16 years 10 months ago
Hi everyone, I am thinking of using a company called credit consultants. Anyone heard of them. They stated they will help me get out of the night mare of debt i have put myself into by negotiating with my lenders and creditors. I guess they are very active with getting things lowered and payed because they earn a 10% commision off of each acct. They do this and get this buy getting the creditors to lower what I owe so it can be payed.

Thank you so much!

I think this site is wonderful! I was about to sign up with a consolidation company, but I was a little concerned about it. I've trying to do this on my own, following the advice I got from you. One of the companies settled for $800 less, and another one settled for $200 less. My big problem is Sonic. I can pay them, but that really leaves me pretty strapped for the month (It will be PIF since they don't rollover) I am terrified of having them try to garnish my wages, although as a school district employee in Texas, they may not be able to so.

Payday Loan Trouble In Kentucky.

16 years 10 months ago
Hello, I am need of help with payday loans. I am confused on what I should do. I would rather not file bk if possible. I have read posts here that say internet payday lending in Kentucky is illegal. I joined Oak View Law Group in May but I got scared when I found out the payday loan companies might contact my employer. I re-joined last week and Oak View is taking out a payment this Friday to resume the plan. If online payday lending is illegal in Kentucky what kind of rights do I have? Oak View does not seem to care if they are legal or not they just negotiate with them on a payment plan.

Riddle & Associates trying to collect on a 9 year old debt!

16 years 10 months ago
Hey everyone, I read some posts regarding this CA but was hoping someone can give me help specific for my situation. At age 18 in 2000 (9 years ago) I had a Bally's membership. I went maybe twice, never went back, and have been contacted by letter by Asset Acceptance Corporation starting in 2007. I ignored the letters because this was a very old debt. On Saturday I received a phone call from Riddle and Associates asking me what I plan on doing about this debt.

New collector of disputed amount

16 years 10 months ago
I disputed a balance owed in October 2008. The firm never responded. I have now received a collection letter from a different company and the balance is over $3000 more than what I originally disputed 8 months ago. How should I respond to this?
