Has anybody out there had any luck putting an ad in the paper to get a small loan for about $15,000 - $20,000 to be able to make settlements with credit card companies? I don't like the idea of taking out more debt to pay off debt, but it seems like it may be a better option if I can turn say $40,000 of debt into $20,000.

Has anyone else received calls from this number? I have received calls from this number stating that they are 'The Law Firm". When I Google the number, I have come up with the name of "Christopher Ranieri Law Firm" or "Ranieri Law Firm". I am trying to get an address from them so that I can send a debt validation letter to them. I have not heard very good things about this firm. They have even called my ex-husband and his second ex-wife. Also, the caller stated that they were from NY. Thank you for any help that you can give me.

If you have sent someone a letter (and fax) to cease and desist and they continue to attempt to contact you by phone what course of action can you take to make them STOP? Payday loan companies are literally disregarding these letters.

In the middle of April we got a notice from Discover that they were suing us, and we only had so many days to answer the suit. I took it to an atty who quickly filed the answer. Eight days later the atty in the suit called my atty and said that she was going to recommend to Discover that they drop the suit (The amount in questions is about $3600). My atty kept calling for the two months to try to verify the dropped suit, but never got to talk to the opposing atty.

Hello... I'm new to debt management and have a few questions about how it (and other types of debt/credit programs) works. I've not spoken with any one yet about my situation but it's looking as if I'll need to very soon. My credit card bills are through the roof and the monthly payments are killing me. I've also got two separate parent loans for two of my college kids.

Since I have only lived outside of MI for a year, I understand that our exemptions fall under MI(Federal) since it has been under 2 years. My question is this...Will the mean test income be dictated on where I lived in MI or my new state? If it falls under MI, I am under the median income...Anyone know? TIA!!
