How much did you end up paying, approx, after filing for chapter 7 and all was done. What was the approx total cost?

okay I waited a bit to see if there would be a reply, all I need to know is if they are allowed to harrass an old woman for a loan that she is not associated with at any manner of the law I tried to post the link to my original post but it won't let me

I just saw online that the debt (which I do not owe) is passed the statute of limitations. Can I use that when I call the creditor?

Quick question. After three years of a debt being settle with Sears, we my mother got a call from these people saying she owes this. I told them I paid. I sent the DV letter just yesterday (I faxed it too) and got a letter today. First off, they dont mention the account#, They say its from Sears. Which was one the accounts that was settle. This is the problem. I cant find the letter where they said it paid. At the time I was under a debt program and this was on it, however I only have the Limited Power of Attorney on this and the letter saying that I couldnt afford paying the debt.

Has anyone ever dealt with this CA? They have been calling me at work, even though I told them not to, and I am getting ready to send a Debt Validation request and C&D. I asked for a mailing address and he said "we will call you every day until this is resolved," and then hung up. They have called themselves Premier Recovery Group and PRG. It is for an older debt and I thought I paid off through a debt consolidation program, but they are so rude, I dont like trying to talk to them. Does anyone have an address? Thanks!

Need help here before we have to shell out $$ for a lawyer, because we don't know what else to do. When I was engaged 4 years ago, my husband and I printed off all three copies of my credit report and paid off all open and negative accounts leaving only my student loans, which my current credit report reflects from all agencies. About 3-4 weeks ago NCL contacted my hubby about a 9 year old debt of mine when I was under my maiden name. They discussed everything with him, pulled my credit report, read him all info, without my permission. Husband works in banking and knows this is illegal.

Can an SS number from medical records be used? Can people in the medical office use the SS number, to check credit, or do a criminal background check, without getting permission, or without the owner of medical records and SS number knowing? Or could a law office get your SS number and do searches without your knowledge?

What do you do next when collection agency returns your file to original creditor?

My wife and I have been living pay check to pay check, so far able to pay creditors and expenses on time, but the tidal wave of debt is above us now and is about to come crashing down (so it feels at least). Our savings are pretty much depleted. We are tired of working to pay the banks (and then pay the government to give away my taxes to the banks...but I'll digress from that). I currently gross about $1750/wk and net around $1150. My wife is currently unemployed but looking for work. We don't know what to do basically.
