In $111,000 credit card and personal loan debt

17 years 1 month ago
I have seen my interest rates rocketed to 29.99%, my monthly payment hiked, one account closed and reduced credit.  I have been current on everything, but not without a price.  I have moved money around from these cards jsut to pay the other.  My husband has been asking me about my debt and I am too ashamed to tell.  I did most of this for my family who has nothing  Now I am about to be behind.  I cannot keep up with the payments.  To pay all of these monthly its about $4000 and I make less than that.

Nationwide Credit Services - Is this legal?

17 years 1 month ago
I received an offer letter on AMEX letter head to settle one of my accounts.  The phone number it lists to call is 877-354-8148 which I believe is Nationwide Credit Serivces and not AMEX.  The account number they list is correct and the letter sounds that it came directly from AMEX and even tells me how to pay online.  I've called the 877 number and only get a message to press 1 if I'm an AMEX customer and then sends me to voicemail to leave a message.  I did leave a message stating if I can't speak to someone then I can't settle.  The offer is for 60% and I want to counter with another a

OK Quick question

My wife got a summons yesterday about a past powerbill. We know we owe it and never got a final bill, we even disputed this with the CB's. Now my question is this. I was able to access our old account thru the power company's website and I can still pay it on-line. What would be the problem if I paid it on-line after she got the summons?

DIY Debt Settlement

If a person is going to give  DIY Debt Settlement a try, should you try to settle larger debts first, since those are the ones that could be sued for first? Or at least if  your sued for the big ones, they could do the most damage on your budget.

Is it better to pay off debt or have a down payment

17 years 1 month ago
I am looking to buy a house to take advantage of this stimulus package.  I have a fairly decent credit score (740) and have a decent amount saved (20k).  Would it be more benificial to use that money to pay off the rest of my credit card debt (about 20k) or save it for a down payment on a house?

Thanks for any assistance you can give me. Long story short, my wife (before we were married) filed for and was granted Chapter 7 a little over 4 years ago.

I need to file an extension on my taxes, I'm not ready to deal with them just yet. Does anyone know how I go about doing that? I normally do my own taxes, but have never asked for an extension.
