My First Offer

17 years 1 month ago
I have several cards.  Today, AMEX became the first to talk about settlement.  Both my wife and I are disabled.  We will never work again.  Our only income is from disability.  Right now, we are either going to settle with everyone, or we are going to file bankruptcy.  Since we are on disability, it would be chapter 7 (I even did the means test, just to be safe, and we still qualify for chapter 7). The offer from AMEX was 70%.  From what I have read, that is not an unusual first offer from t

Student loans, Allied Interstate, etc.

17 years 1 month ago
Alright, so I've gotten myself in deep trouble with my student loans. They are in default and are being handled now by Allied Interstate. I have been ignoring the problem and am forcing myself now to sit down and deal with it, but I don't know where to start. Allied has called one of my employers multiple times and most recently has told my employer that they will be garnishing my wages. Is this legal? They have not sent me anything about this, I had to hear it from my employer. I just need to know what I should do first. Call Allied? I don't know what to say. Can anyone help?

A question about my credit cards

17 years 1 month ago
I have these 2 credit cards (Orchard Mastercard and Household Platnium Mastercard----both HSBC).  I see no hope of ever paying them off because when I pay them $50.00 and $100.00 the balance just keeps going up.  I can't afford to pay the whole balance.  I have been sending them 50.00 on the Orchard and $100.00 on the Household every month and the balance just keeps going up.  That is alot of money (for me) to go for nothing.  I just don't want them to sue me.  My question--If I just send them each $10.00 a month would that be enough to keep them from sueing me?  (I know the balance wil

Negotiating repayment??

17 years 1 month ago
I have 3 payday loans that I want to set up on a repayment plan.  What is a fair amount to state to each of them.  I want  to get them paid off, but don't want to be late on living expenses and other necessary bills.  Through experience, is there a minimum amount they will accept?  I have one for $600, $500 and $400>

Something to think about

If any of you have read my signatures you will notice the one "When the government fears the People, that is Liberty. When the People fear the Government, that is tyranny;" ~Thomas Jefferson I found this list today. now read it with an open mind and then think about how many of these things have happened or are getting ready to happen. 1. Control of public information and opinion: It begins with withholding information, and leads to putting out false or misleading information.

BOA settlement % - how relate to past history

17 years 1 month ago
Does having a good payment history with BOA raise or decrease your %? I had excellent payment history (10 yrs) then my husband's job tanked and our BOA credit cards went overlimit and we couldn't make the minimum payments.  They are the only ones I couldn't keep up with (still have 401K loan and another cc that is automatically withdrawn from my checking that are still current).  My husband however has bad credit and when his other business tanked three years ago, had settled several of this CC (in collections).Â
