It's just been recommended that I go directly to bankruptcy from a Credit Management company after reviewing my credit situation. Anybody have experience with this?

Hi all, I used to live in the US and got overwhelmed with my card debt. Had an opportunity to leave the country and was one of the few lucky ones who saved enough to pay off my debt. I only have copies of my credit report from 3/4 years ago. I cannot access my credit report now. How do I find out what the original amount of debt was? and how much of it is interest. Does the credit report have the prinicipal + interest or just principal. I didn't have a lot of debt probably something around 4K but the credit report is showing 7K.

I see a lot of posting in reference to internet sites. My PDLS are with TX store front locations (ACE, Cash Advance, etc). So that just means that they are legally operating in the state of Texas ..right? So what is my recourse, can I default and hope to work out a pay plan with them? Am I protected from them contacting my employer or references? I want to pay off the loans, I need breathing room just to take care of my family. This has become a living nightmare!! Help!!!! My last resort is Bankrupsy!

I want to start tapping these low life debt collectors but don't if you can legally tape phone calls in PA....Anyone know? Thanks in advance :D

I'm having an extremely difficult time getting a student loan even with a co-signer who has very strong credit. My credit score is like 550 from many problems I had several years ago. I've been back on track for a while now, just managed to pay off the car that I purchased new only 3 years ago. However my credit score went down. I was recently accepted to an Ivy League University and without a student loan I have no way I can afford it.

My mom has accrued significant debt due tot he failure of her business. She has about 130K in unsecured credit card debt that she is personally liable for. My parents have a house that appraises at 625K but hasn't sold after being listed for 550K for several months now. The house has 340K in mortgages. She was considering bankruptcy for a while.

I've read about securing my bank account and sending an ACH revocation letter to the PDLs but need to know if these PDL's are legal in Indiana or not.

I received the notice "Intent to Sue" a month after it was sent because it went to my former address. I sent a debt validation letter but the letter was sent on 1/28/09. Do they legally have to respond even though it's over 30 days.

Hi there, My individual credit card debts are all under $5,000. I've read that the limit for corporations to sue you in small claims is $5,000. I've also read that 3rd Party Debt Collectors that have purchased debts...can not really sue you as they are not the "victim" or "injured party." The bottom line is...I live in California...I'm a special ed teacher...wife lost her job...and I am just thinking about letting my credit cards go into default....being sold....being harrassed....and having my credit ruined for a few years.
