I was recently told by a credit card company that if I did NOT get my account current within the next two weeks, I would be prosecuted to the "fullest extent of the law" which could mean 10-20 years hard time in prison. Can you really be sent away for being behind on a credit card debt? Plus, they have accepted my partial payments, so they can't say that I'm sending in nothing, can they?

I've gotten many calls from another CA that says they sent me the letter explaining that I owe the debt, yada, yada and when I told them they did not and would they send me another one, he told me no. What should I do? Should I go ahead and dispute anyway?

After nearly eight months, I finally got my money back from Lombardo's bank last night. Not sure why it took so long, but it's finally over. James, if you are reading this: I HOPE YOU ARE PENNILESS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. AND I HOPE YOU SPEND SOME SERIOUS TIME IN PRISON FOR ALL THE HEARTACHE YOU HAVE CAUSED SO MANY PEOPLE. The bottom line is this, James: You lied to earn my trust, and then stole from me, and in the end, YOU LOST. I told you I would win, and I did. Oh how sweet it is.

My handicapped brother received a summons on a debt from North Star Acquisitions which we do not know where it originated. We have received no correspondence from them and the debt is several years old. I contacted the law firm asking for origination on this and do not know where to go from there. He does not remember having this debt and I have been taking care of his personal business for the last ten years and do not remember it either. I do not know if this was a debt incurrured under his name by another person. I need hlep in finding this out.

Can some one tell me what I should ecpect next? I closed my Checking with ING and they were very nice about it(although I was very embarassed when I had to explain my situation). I am supposed to have my account debited by all my lenders by this Friday. I am very nervous right now and not sure what to expect. Before checking this site, I did complain to upfront pay with out closing my account first and that day they immediately marked my account as paid in full - and are actualyl calling me to get more loans!

I live in Wis. I took a loan out from Impact Cash in October of 2008 for 350.00. To date, I have paid them 840.00 and am told I owe 350.00 (payments of 110, 95,80, and 65) and then I will be paid off. Do I still owe them this money? Will I have to close my account to get them to not take any more money out?

I received a letter from a law office regarding an unpaid account from Kansas Gas Service. It said that I had 30 days from receipt of the letter to dispute the debt. I did dispute it because I thought I had paid it (I received their letter on 12/27/08 and they received my certified letter on 1/26/09). Instead of providing me with verification of the debt, they filed suit and I received a summons for court. When I spoke to the person the letter said to contact at the law firm, I explained that I had sent them the letter to dispute it and she said they never received it.

To all the experts, I mailed out 5 PFD's, now if I get responese back and can't get a PFD, what's the next best thing I should have reported to the credit bureau's? Paid Satisfied? Paid Agreed? Also, when does the SOL start? from the first date of delinquency or the last payment made on the account? Tks!

This is about the middle eastern sounding people. Has anyone gotten them to leave you alone? Did they ever try to debit money from an account? I do not owe anyone any money so I am not sure where they got this information.
