What do you do if a 3rd party collections company that you requested validation of debt sold the account to another collections company? Isn't that fraud? Does anyone have a letter that I could use to make this debt go away (if I can)? Please give me some insight!

In june 2007 I had pdl from cashnetusa for 200.00. Paid them 370.00 before going thru all steps to close bank acct and sent all letters to stop ach, phone calls... I heard from them for a couple mos they told me I owed 162.00 more and would be finished b/c they had rolled over 4 times. I told them I could not cover this all at once and never heard from them again. today 1/2009 i got call from James Collins who told me he was from the Prelegal dept of ACH credit recovery and he said I owe 400.00 b/c of cashnetusa loan I never paid and needed to resolve with him before lawyers got involved.

I am starting on the journey of owning up to my debts and getting a plan going to get them paid back. I have contacted a debt management company in an effort to pay everyone back. I am currently 4-6 months behind on all the credit cards. My question is whether I should go with debt settlement on my own. If I am this far behind on my cards is it going to hurt credit score to do debt settlement anymore than I already have by not paying for so long? Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I've been paying GC Services for an unpaid school loan since 1992. I started paying in October in 2008 when they called my job and threatened to garnish my wages. They were not willing at all to negotiate the interest or anything. I recently received a letter from a RJ Acquisitions, saying that they had purchased that loan back in 1995, and they would erase all the interest, and cut the figure in 1/2. The letter says if I pay the settlement amount in full, the account balance will be paid in full.

Hello! I thought this would be a great place to start a post about suggestions to others on how you are saving money to help pay them bills during these rough times. My goal on this forum is to help add some relieve to people that are struggling. One of my favorite ways that i am saving money is buying food in bulk. We are a family of 3 and i could never do this before because i couldnt afford a vacuum packer and my stuff would get freezer burnt. But for christmas this year my grandmother bought me a Reynolds hand-vac (12.00) kit.

How do I go about finding out if somebody is licensed to collect debt in my state and if lawyers are liscensed to practice. Read where alot of collectors are trying to collect in states they legally cant. Thanks

hello, my name is Karen a single mom with three kids who was dumb enough to take out a pay day loan for 300 ( twice), i paid one back and not the other, now it's doubled and a half, i had a call from mr.hazel, if i don't pay in full (15 minutes ago) i will be charged for fraud and 4000 fees.

i have been in payday loans now for about a yr. i cant seem to get out. i owe around 2000$ and some is due today.anyone know how i can make a monthly payment back to them tell the balance is 0

Does anyone know if MTE FINANCIAL is legal in the US. I know they have multiple lending names. Does anyone know which names they operate under. ALSO If a company is not legai in the US what exactly does that mean. What payback are they entitled to if by paying interest you have already paid more then what the total laon was. THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME.
