Is Florida leading the way for debt settlement SCAMS? Almost every company I inspect they somehow can be traced to Florida. And for the most part they are all in the same towns. Same goes for those fake trade associations. Why Florida?

I owed a debt to May Department Stores, now purchased by Macy's, of a little over $2000. They sued me back in 2005. I, luckily, had an attorney. He validated the debt and we made an offer to settle for $800. They countered for $1300. We countered again for $1100. Their attorney said they would get back to us. In 2006, after months of no response from May/Macy's, my attorney informed me that the case had been dismissed. A few months later, Macys began sending me new billing statements for the full amount. In 2007, the debt went to a new debt collecter, Titan Management LLC.

I have a loan with them which I borrowed 300.00 there is finance charge is 90.00. I have closed my account as of 9-15. I just got an email staing that I have to have it paid off my tomorrow400.00 if it is not paid then I will have to pay 528.00 and they are going to report me to the DA's office,need to get an attorney..garnish my wages and take my property. They only communicate via email or phone. They will not give you their address. They are not working with me at all..

On there website it say they collect on delinquent payday loans throughout the USA.How can they collect if in most states pdls are prohibited and illegal? ALos they seem to go by other names like NRS and others.Anyone here have dealt with these people?

Divorced August 1, 2008 in Washington State. Awarded three debts ($34K total) in the divorce: two Lines of Credit and one credit card. I was never a joint owner on any of these debts which has been confirmed by the creditors. On the advice of my divorce attorney, I reluctantly took the debts because I received the majority of the assets (i.e. household furniture), my ex used the debts to pay the mortgage on the house (which we sold at a loss) and my ex has been unemployed for almost two years. My yearly income is approx. $40K; my ex was employed at $135K before being fired.

I have defaulted on a storefront PDL. Of course theys aid they cannot accept payment for less than the amount of a check I had written. Well I have another 15 days to come up with the full amount before either being sent to a 3rd party collection agency or have legal charges put against me. I'm sure that means they will take me to Civil Court and garnish my wages --- which would be bad. My question is --- I am in Ohio ---- the storefront manager said they don't mess around with these situations and they will even send somebody to my place of employment. is that legal?

I have several pdl that refuse to work with me, I have sent them all a letter ( email) telling them I cannot make the high payments they originally set up for me, can we make them smaller and further out, telling them I DO plan on paying, but need smaller, two are telling me they dont alter or change payments , any ideas?
