I was served by the sheriff with papers stating that i was being sued for old Providian debt. I checked the county court's website and seen my name. The sheriff advised that I had 20 days to respond. In the meantime a letter from Midland Management arrived in the mail stating the same debt and Apothaker has been calling my house. Should I speak with them about payment arrangements or should I receive something else stating a court date? Any advise is appreciated.

how can i find out if a CA can collect any interest? DV them for all the original loan docs? Settlements...would a CA ever settle for a flat amount to be paid over time and not in one lump sum? Thanks!

Hello I am only 18 yrs old and Im an Authorized user on my sisters account and on my dads credit card and both cards have been delinquent for like 8 months or more, and it shows on my credit report, can I call the credit card companys and remove myself? can they remove me even if the accounts are closed? If I am removed from the accounts can I write to the credit report people and have them remove it from my report?

I have just begun to receive calls from one CC that is only about 10 days late. Have turned off all the ringers on my phones and am dreading having to talk to them. Has anyone just given up and filed BK just to get peace?

I don't want my family/friends/work to see my name in the paper if I file BK. Is there any way around this? I have 40k in credit cards. Can't make min payments anymore. If I file BK in a different County, then would it not appear in the County I live in? I would do settlement but have 9 accounts and can't risk them calling me at work. I also think that BK will be less expensive for me and will not hurt my credit much more than settlement. Please help as I'm about to go crazy!!

I am being forced to pay up business debt, from a domestic partnership run by myself and my husband. The business has ended and since I, an individual, is responsible for the debt, does the fdcpa apply to these debts?
