I am in the process of divorce and selling the home. I want to take the money from home sale to pay off large CC debt 23K, by offering 40-50% Do you have to stop making payments to have them listen? I would like to do this myself and not through agency. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, found it a couple of days ago trying to find a way to get out of payday loan debt. It all started around Christmas time, needed a little money, then blew up from there. Currently I have 7 loans out. I've been trying to keep up with the biweekly payments just to survive. Now, I can no longer afford to pay the 'fees'. It's been driving me crazy trying to figure out a way to get out of this. I want to close my checking account but, my tax refunds will be hitting the account within the next month.

recently, i have been getting calls from a collection agency saying that i owe 20,000 dollar on a credit account originating over 20 years ago. how do i get them to stop calling me. this debt is too old, they won't tell me what it is for, they only say that 99 percent of it is interest. my credit rating at this time is well in the 700's. any suggestions

I have just been served for an old debt. I am tryin to locate date of last activity. I am in Texas and I know it was 2004 but cannot find the month. How do I find this, I just purchased a credit report and it is not on there.

My son made the mistake of applying for a PDL two month's ago. Just now told me what was going on and hoping that Mom can come to the rescue. Chance brought me to this forum, so I'm hoping someone can help me help him. He initially took out a loan for $200 from UnitedCashLoans the end of Feb.2008, as of 4-18-08, there has been $1037 withdrawn by ACH's from multiple company's. The amounts are as follows: UnitedCashLoans (initial on-line loan)- $325 Big Limited Payment - $200 MTE Financial - $180 ameriloan - $180 GRE 1-12 - $152 He lives in IA. Can someone please help? Mom

How long after I pay or dispute/removal of debts does it normally take for a credit score to go up?

I just defaulted on my loans yesterday and prior to that I put stop payments on the checks I wrote. My next question is what do I say when they call? I am not use to me or my kids not answering the phone when it rings. Can we just tell them we want to work out a settlement without the interest charges? Can we also tell them that future communication be by e-mail and they are not to call your house again?
