Under MA law, you need to be licensed to collect debt. What I was told is that Attorney's DO NOT need to be licensed. So I tired to figure out whats going on with all the lawsuits. CHECK CAREFULLY!!!!!! I searched for about 2 hours and I finally came up with Maier Frank J & Associates Law Office 500 Main St Worcester,MA 01608 (508)755-5955 ALSO!!!!! Statewide Collection Services SAME PHONE NUMBER!!!! They do not have a license to collect debt. I asked him over the phone for a 1800 number because it is long distance for me to call, they told me they didn't have one. BUT WAIT!!!!!

So, I get a call on my cell from 1-222-222-2222...got back and listen to the voice mail and its NCO! They have been calling me from various phone numbers here and there, and no written notice from them as required by the fdcpa within 5-days of the first call. I am sending them a DV letter tomorrow, but did I also read someplace on here that per FDCPA CA's must use their real phone numbers when calling?

I have a few store credit accounts that went to collection. I was totally naive about what credit was and how it affected me until recently. I would like to repair my credit as best as I can- however i'm not sure what steps to take. The reports are accurate, but obviously are a red flag to creditors. How can I go about taking care of these? Should I ask for validation letters in hopes that they may not have the info anymore? (it's been a few years), or perhaps attempt to pay the original creditor so I can dispute with the collection agency once it's paid off?

It is from 203-672-2117 a guy named Dat Sully. He has a foreign accent and says he has a legal matter that I need to call him back, then he goes on to say that i need to hire a lawyer and that they are going to come pick me up so i need to find someone who can bail me out. Then he wishes me luck and hangs up..he calls about 3 or 4 times back to back before leaving a message. All of that on the message....am i the only one receiving calls from this guy??

I called the attorney for LVNV funding today and asked for the case to be dismissed for the multiple violations LVNV funding has committed. For reporting "factoring company" on my credit report when the original debt was charged off. Listing it "open" and many others. She said that best buy assigned them the debt, my credit report says "purchased by another lender" Is that legal??? The other thing, Does an attorney have to have all the paperwork to file a law suit?

I am a Professional Debt Collection Agent At NCO Financial Systems… And with me are 5 of the best Collectors there…. I just read about 10 pages of DEBTOR SCUM Excuses as far as to why they shouldn't pay their bills I noticed that debtors seem to think there untouchable. We warn them about non-payment and the possible legal action that may be taken against them and they totally shrug us off like the deadbeats who posted on this site.

Paying off a medical responsibility to a client and want to write a letter telling individual that I am paying this amount and do hold or come back to me for more money.

My wife has a BOA card, started out 5000, fees and interest have turned to 8500. we were on pymt plan of 100 a month, lady called, said sorry that wasn't enough, we would be turned to collection. 2 weeks ago got letter from midland funding, threatening lawsuit if we don't pay. Right now we are battling high debt load,and adjustable mortgage, We can afford 100-200 a month max. I haven;t called Midland yet, what should we do? By the way, the card is in my wife's name, I am authorized user, most of use was living expenses from being over extended.

I am being sued by LVNV funding on a debt I didn't know about.The first letter is from their attorney. It has his signature on it and on the back says,"This is an attempt to collect a debt Any information obtained will be used for that purpose".It says I had 30 days to respond. The second letter, one month later, does not have the attorneys signature and now it says " this communication is from a debt collector. this is an attempt to collect a debt".
