CA Lawyers

I saw a post here recently concerning ESKANOS & ADLER but now can't find the thread. From what I remember, they are pretty ruthless. Is there any chance they will let me make payments on my debt or are they going to require it all at once?

Credit when in DMP

I'm thinking I might go the dmp route with Take Charge America...my question is are you shut out entirely from getting credit during the plan? I'm not in any sort of rush to get credit or anything, but the plan calls for about 4 years and I would think during that time I might want an auto loan or get a secured card to build credit

Fees on debts sold to collection agency

18 years 3 months ago
Are collection agencies allowed to tack fees on to what your debt balance? I have a debt for tuition, in the amount of $1163 back when I was going to school but wasn't able to pay. According to the Utah State Tax Commission, who has placed a lien on my state tax returns, the majority of the amount that I originally owed is payed off, but the collection agency has tacked on an additional $300+ to my original debt and are reporting that I have paid nothing, and still owing $1400. Is this legal?

Consolidate advise

I've worked up $55,000 in unsecured debt and now missing payments and all those troubles. An ideal situation would be for me to borrow 55 @ 10% for 10 years. Unfortunately I have no home for equity. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any government/bank/union loans or programs that could work on the 55-10-10 terms? I know probably a long shot, but I'm just researching options before I'm forced into bankruptcy.

How to make ex pay

18 years 3 months ago
In 2003 I got a divorce, in it my ex agreed to pay off a California State Franchise Tax Board lien of $3,000. The lien has since grown to $12,000 and is still on my credit because the debt was in both of our names. I understand that to California, I am still obligated to pay this debt and they could garnish my wages. I know that I could pay it and then sue him for the money, but I do not have that kind of money. Is there any way to force him to take care of this obligation?

I finally posted the final episode of "Night of the LIving Debt." I want to thank you all for your loyal following of the story. It was fun but at the same time the end put me on kind of an emotional roller coaster as I realized how far back in my life the problem really started. You have really been encouraging and supportive and I have thoroughly enjoyed your company along both journeys. The real one and the fictitious one. Once again, thank you all so much!

Considering Bankruptcy-Would like some advice

18 years 3 months ago
I got a divorce back in 2003. Outlined in it were several items that my ex husband was supposed to pay. In 2004 he filed for bankruptcy, erasing his obligation to the creditors and to me to pay these off. *Some* of these bills are on my credit report, totaling a little over $26,000. None of them have pursued me to pay these and I have just "dealt" with having crappy credit for these many years. Now two of the companies have contacted me recently for payment. One I believe is getting ready to garnish my wages.
