Please guys help me. I'm new to all of this and want to handle it the right way. I racked up about 8,000 on a credit card with lates fees. They charged off about 4000. A collection agency keeps calling me, he said they would settle for 3,000. I told them i would be more then happy to pay it off however i do not have 3,000 dollars. He said i can get a loan from citi finacial to pay it off. I do not have good credit so i was denied the loan. What else can i do, i can pay off the 3,000 in payments but the collection agency makes it seem like i have to pay it in full.

I don't have time for much TV, but it is my favorite. I also hear an American version is in the works. There seems to be a growing trend of Americanizing BBC programs as there was in the early 1970s: Till Death Do Us Part (All in the Family), Steptoe and Son (Sanford and Son), Man About the House (Three's Company), etc. Now it's The Office and Dancing with the Stars and the like.

I started the thread "NCO Group threats" and took the advice of the replys and sent a cease and desist letter by fax and certified mail, return receipt requested. My question is basically now what? should i wait for them to send me a letter back? should i call them? should i send them something else in writing?

Wondering if anyone has experience in this...I am in a debt settlement program and settled 1 debt this year. I just received the 1099c form for the "forgiven" debt. I am aware that I need to fill out form 982 for insolvency. So, my question is: Since I can prove insolvency, do I need to include this amount as income? Or, do I just include the 1099c and 982 when I file? I appreciate any help!

I have a debt to a department store of $366 which includes over $250 in fees. Do you all find it unreasonable to request a settlement of 166 (basically the entire principal and interest with out the fees?)

I swear these payday loan people must think I'm stupid. The other day my cash now welcomes me to their MyCashNow Preferred Member Rewards Program. Today,500Fastcash agrees to a PIF through the BBB and I find a FastCashPreferred Card in my mailbox. All I have to do is activate it! According to them, the "FastcashPreferred Card was developed as a companion to speed and efficiency of your loan delivery." Just what I need... a faster way to get a payday loan!
