Has anyone had any luck with debt settlement with credit card companies?

I just had to post this. I think it's pretty funny considering I defaulted on the last loan I had with them. I was a good customer though and overpaid them by over $1,400 so, I guess this is my reward. The strategies these companies will use to keep you borrowing are really amazing. The last line is the funniest because if you keep borrowing, we all know you will not enjoy your life.

hi everybody! here i am stuck with my cousin's problem. she had six payday loans, and quite a few medical bills lined up. she started with the medical bills and spoke to the creditors if she could defer payments on the payday loans. they agreed. now all of a sudden, her voice mail is flooded and they have sent a letter to her workplace demanding immediate repayment. we know we cant do anything, except coming up with the money, but still, is there a ray of light somewhere?

I have heard E-Trade uses Chex for checking accounts but do they use it for Savings accounts? I want to open up a savings account and I already have an Employee Stock account with them. Thanks!

I would interested in any information from people who have settled their debts and how they dealt with the tax implications of a 1099C. From all the reading that I am doing, if you settle with a creditor make sure you negotiate that they waive all late fees, transfer fees, overlimit fees and interest from your account before you settle. If you do not take this step, I believe that you will be taxed on those fees that you were charged.

I leisurely called geneva roth to see what was still owed after three 90.00 auto draft payments. they said I still owed the 300.00.
