I thought that debt collectors must stop calling your home if you put in writing to stop. I sent the letter (certified), but they continue to call. Can they still call? If not, do I have any recourse? Thank you for any help! Shane :D

Attorney General Sues Agency for Debt Collection Abuses TALLAHASSEE - Attorney General Charlie Crist today filed suit against a Jacksonville-based collections agency and its owner over allegations they repeatedly threatened consumers and imposed illegal fees for owed debts.

I have two credit cards that have been turned over to CA's. Basically I know that I owe these, but I have lost the agreements that I signed with the credit card companies with the credit limit, interst rate, ,how much in fees, I was going to have to pay and that the card would be charged with before I even got the card, etc. If I'm not mistaken the credit limit was like 300.00 and 150.00 of that was a one time fee they charged to the card, which left me only 150.00 to actually use. Now I have 2 questions.

I think we will keep only one because wehn we have more than that we seem to get into trouble again. How many credit cards will you keep once your debt is paid off?

I got a call and and informed them I could not pay my debt in the alloted time.The person said If I do not pay he said he knows where I live and will send people to hurt me physically.I called my lawyer,police and filed reports and wrote letters to the AG's office.

So I sent in my PIF, refund, revoke ach, cease and desist calling me or refrences, illegal, etc etc etc, letter into Payday Ok. I have yet to hear from them, and my account isn't scheduled for a payment until 6/15/07 BUT.. I logged into my account to check things out and it says 1st set of questions... What now? Is this normal? Are they going to try and fight it with me?

I have the same story as most everyone else. I took a loan to get some groceries for the month. It seemed so easy. Then they started hitting my account with huge bi-weekly fees. I took another to help pay that off. And then again, and again. I now have 4 total and seriously am hurting. Summer is here in Phoenix and I can't even afford to get my little girl clothes- not even from the thrift store. I am lucky to have just a few extra dollars after paying all of these loans and trying to stay on top of my other stuff. What can I do? I know they are operating illegally in Arizona.
