BellaLisa: Thanks for the information. Did you just stop paying them and wait for them to contact you, or did you send them a letter in the beginning. I am just starting to climb out of the "payday trap" and want to make sure I am taking the right steps with them. Thank you again for your support on this.

I've been summonsed, but they left the letter at an address I've never actually lived at. I just had it as a forwarding address for a while. Is that an acceptable way to be served?

Hi All, I thought the payday loan hell was behind me... Yesterday I got a flood of e-mails indicating I applied for payday loans. I have received calls on my cell and work phone. Is it possible that they have sold all of my information?

I live in OH and took out a PDL with Cash in a Wink (a Delaware based company). The original loan amount was for $500 and I have made 2 pymnts for $125. I sent them a letter explaining that the loan was illegal in OH and that while I was not obligated, I would be willing to repay the principal that I still owed ($250) and gave them a repayment plan. I asked them to communicate w/me via email only. The continued to call me, as well as my place of employment. I resent the letter and they said they would need to speak to me directly.

I took out a payday loan in ky in 2007. I had every intention of repaying it but things happen. I closed my account several months later. They continued to call me but stopped after time. About once a year I get a call from another company on their behalf. I have been told that if I don't repay the loan that they will have a sherriff out to arrest me. This has never happened. Another company called yesterday, the lady said that if I don't pay at least $250 that she will have civil and criminal charges filed against me.

If I pay back or settle all the payday loans I took out, then I should not have any of these collections companies calling me and harrassing me, correct??? I see all these people writing about getting collections calls and I just want to make sure that if I never defaulted, I should not receive them too. Also, what if Eastside Lenders is not acknowledging my communication efforts? Some companies have told me they need me to call them, etc. but I have not even heard back from Eastside at all.... I got a RUDE call from these people asking for my son who is mentally ill and they claimed he has an outstanding debt to a record house from years ago for 35 dollars. I know for a fact that he never had any such thing, these people are jerks and I feel like I'm speaking to someone in the Twilight Zone, especially when I ask for them to send validation, they get mad at me and hang up! I belong to donotccall.gov and I will put their number on the list of complaints. 1-800-620-0371 The government needs to protect citizens against people like this.
