Do these guys collect student loan debt? I am getting some calls that are in regards to my brother. I know he owes a lot of stuff but very curious if it can be this type of debt.

I know is my responsibility to pay them and have been making the refinance charges but by time paycheck comes around every 2 weeks, same cycle. I cannot get ahead, barely making refinance charges or having to take another loan to pay the fees, etc....

Hi, I owe Cap One approximately $1600. They sent the debt to Leading Edge Recovery (Chicago). They have been trying to collect for a while but I do not have the money. If I did have the money, I would just settle with Leading Edge for the approximately $800. I'm searching for a job and hope to be able to pay the debt before the end of this year. In June, I tried to stall Capital One & Leading Edge with a debt validation. That didn't work. In the letter I asked then to cease and desist for 30 days. Last week Cap 1 sent me a letter saying they received my cease & desist letter.

Has it become more difficult to settle even with outside collection company like GECC for American express? Have some of the laws affected this that were passed in march of 2009. I have tried to settle with them and am very close to 120 days, and they don???t seem to be very interested in 40 percent. I am borrowing from 401k just to do this. The agent claims the company will ask for more documentation than I have provided, which is debt from the IRS, State I live in, and what my income is.
