I have really old debt in collections, Just when I was going to sign up with a settling company.. I recieved a garnishment at my job. What should I do? file bankrupcy.. still settle...?? I read that garnishments are just as bad as a bankrupcy.. and Im in college and afraid I wont be able to qualify for government student loans after this issue :( I dont know what to do

Hello I am most desperate to find out the regulations on an issue I am having. I will do my best to keep this short: 2/3/06

• Girlfriend car break down mid way through an across the state commute for work.
• I drive to scene to help.
• 'Repair Shop' (use that term lightly) says $978 to fix. Would not take a check larger than $500, so paid remaining balance with debit card ($479)
• Therefore, wrote check for $500, dated 2/3/06.
• Next day car blows up mid way through the drive. Had to salvage it there.

Can they threaten you on Sallie Mae loans they bought even though there's no possible way I can pay more than $100.00 a month. I would like to have a good faith committment but I'm only making $12 hourly and my mom cosigned and can't make payments either at this time.

Collections agency said they sent a letter to my home saying who they were and who I owed and the 30 day thing. I never received any mail from them? I asked them if they sent it certified and they said no it doesn't matter. They say my 30 days are up so I've agreed to owing the money. Can they do this?

if I apply for a program to consolidate will my credit be affected in any way?

I live in Indiana and was just advised that my wages are being garnished by these guys, they must have bought an old debt. How do they get away with garnishment if I've never received a summons

I sent my e-mail to them this morning indicating that I was revoking ACH and that I knew they were an illegal lender. I took out a $300 loan and have paid $375.

Hello While living at my address, my mother has accumulated about $32,000 in debt over 5 credit cards + a creditor called Republic Finance. With me in school and unable to support her, she went to South Korea to try to find some work there. She's been gone for 3 months and hasn't made any payments. Of course I've been getting all of the mail and phone calls from creditors asking about her. I had a someone from Republic Finance finally show up at my door yesterday. My question is: am I in any way liable for her debt?
