garnishment of wages

18 years 11 months ago
I'm really in a mess. I don't know if this is the appropriate place for this or not, but if anybody has had their wages garnished, please give me any input you may have. I lived in a townhouse where the landlord was a real "slum lord." It was in a nice neighborhood, and the outside of it looked great. The inside wasn't too bad, but I lived there for seven years, and he did as little as possible to it. I drew the line at toilet water running into stuff that I was cooking on the stove. That's just to let you know how bad it was.

1-800-925-6142

Does anyone know this number? Every day, including weekends, I get a recorded call asking me to call a Pat Martin at this number to discuss a very important matter. The recording never says who this guy is or the name of the company he's with or the nature of this "very important matter". I ran up a ton of bills a few years ago after transplant surgery and get calls all the time about outstanding medical bills, so I suspect that's what it's about. I've googled the number, but with no results. Thanks for any help you can give me.

It started off good...

I moved out, to another state, when I was 18. At that point, I had great credit, already having two small loans that I had paid off in full. I discovered my new bank would let me spend $300 past my account balance, so I quickly exercised this feature. When the bill came, I couldn't pay all of it, so I paid none of it - a pattern that continues still. Then I took out a $7000 loan so I could buy a horse trailer (which I didn't buy, by the way. It did go towards horse-related items, however).

A Request for the Site

18 years 11 months ago
This is a great site with great people, with fabulous information at our fingertips. One thing troubles me, however: Why are PDL places advertised on the top of it? If anything, these should be the last places that should advertise here, if you get my drift! Many of us, myself included, are trying to get PDL free, and I feel that this is like an AA meeting taking beer ads! Just my two cents...

I also have had a nightmare with pay day loans

18 years 11 months ago
I also have had a nightmare with pay day loans but the worst was with Genva Roth. They did threaten me with fraud form my job and that they were going to get my laptop ceased. Some how they found my new bank acct# and they automatically deducted $400 from my account, causing my car payment to get returned and of course this caused a domino affect and I ended up with over 3 NSF's from my bank. At my bank I had to fill out a form that revoked Geneva Roth from taking any more money from my account. Thank God the $400 was reversed and they now can't take money from my account.

allied interstate.... another complaint and question

18 years 11 months ago
Hi, I've been searching this forum and seen several complaints about allied interstate already... so I know that they are considered a difficult collection agency to deal with. I got into some debt trouble in college because I wasn't responsible with credit cards and unfortunately, I was eventually unable to pay on the accounts anymore and they were sent to collections. One account I have paid off (almost a year ago!), another I worked out payment arrangements with the collection agency with no problems.

Found something interesting

In scanning our wonderful Internet in doing research, I found this website. It is a listing of FiSCA state organizations. FiSCA stands for Financial Service Centers of America. It is an organization that covers small loan lenders (payday). Here in Canada, we have the group call Canadian Payday Lenders Association. This page has a full listing of state sites.
