The number is 866-489-0979, they called and threatened legal action. I live in Alabama. I asked them for a faxed copy of documentation for my records and she said that she could fax in one hour and I had two hours to wire my money. I did not wire any money because she never faxed me the documents. She called and left a very threatening message that she was pursuing legal avenues. I contacted my local DA's office who referred me to the sherrif and they told me that they can threaten all they want but this is a civil matter that would have to go thru the proper legal channels.

I got my credit report today and Unifund is on it, the amount and info has me very confused. I have no idea who or what they are! Please help me understand why they are telling me I owe them this amount of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Has anyone used Preferred Financial Services for debt settlement? They are based out of Massachussetts and "seem" to know their stuff, but I am unsure how to base a good company from a bad one. Any advice on finding a good debt settlement agency would be appreciated...

I got myself into lots of troubel gambling, ended up with various debts from bank loans, credit cards totalling £100,000! I have worked hard to deal with the problem and managed to get my debt down to just £20,000 and admitted my addiction and got help! Not gambled for over 4 years now. My dilemma is that in the past couple of years i have met someone and we have married. She is from Australia and wants to go back. This will be a permanet move, a fresh start for me.

My husband I we have alot of debts between the two of us. We are looking for help trying to become debt free. We have alot of credit cards but the main concern is that we have car loans which are current in payments but we know with our income and bills that we can't afford to pay those off. I was shocked to find so many compaints about this company while researching my issue! Here is my situation. I received a letter from them November of 2005 saying i owed a balance of $2245.50, of which I had no knowledge. When I called them, in between the bullying I managed to get the information that it was a visa account supposedly opened in 1996 with the Associates Bank and paid until 12/97, with a balance of $1308.22. I do not believe this debt is mine and it does not show up on my credit report from any of the 3 agencies.
