I have a general question. Is impersonating a debt collector a federal crime?

Be careful with the secured cards you see over the internet because they can charge excessive fees. You might want to use one with a reputable bank in your area. Just make sure what you charge, that you pay off every month. That is the quickest way to rebuild your credit and not get caught in the debt cycle again.

I want to file an complaint on Interim Cash Limited for numerous reasons. One being the harassing phone calls that I receive. Can anyone tell me who I need to file the complaint with? I know there have been several places mentioned including the BBB, FTC, etc.

I currently have 25k in cc debt, between my wife and I we have 50k in student loans, 8k in auto loans, a 100k mortgage, and owe 12k to my inlaws. We currently have our student loans in deferrment or forbearance for the third time. We are barely making it now and need to pay back my inlaws. I have looked into a few different debt settlement programs and lawgistix is the one that seems to offer the most promise and I haven't heard many negative things about them. I haven't heard many positive things about them either though.

Just stared receiving voice mail messages form this company. Had to replay them 5 times to understand the accent. Their call center is in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I have no clue as to if their calls are valid, I have yet to receive any letters in the mail from this company. Anyone with any interaction with this company? Your info would be helpfull. Thanks to helpful people like you and Robert Kyosaki's books. I have gotten many things taken off my credit report and settled with many creditors. I just got a creditor (Rickenbaker Collections) to accept a payment of $600 for a $1200 debt to close it out. They offered me $900 and said that if I paid $900, they would not only erase the debt but contact the credit bureaus and remove them from my reports.

I do plan to pay off my debt, however, it has already been placed into a collection agency. The agency that is contacting me is Academy Collection Services, ACS. They are harrassing me and my mother! I'm nervous that they may be harrassing other family members or friends also. I'm willing to make arrangements to make small payments, but the representatives that contact me are so rude and harsh that conversations usually end with me so angry and near tears that I just hang the phone up in the representative's face. Now, I don't answer the phone at all.

I received a call that was routed thru this website from Consumer credit counseling of America. I started to talking to them because I thought they were the same as consumer credit counseling Services. Confusing already, right? Well the former,CCCoA, told me to give them my bank account numbers BEFORE they would show me anything in writing, saying it was thru their lawyers and they couldn't show me anything before I gave them my account number.
