what is the difference between debt consolidation and debt settlement?

I reside in Massachusetts and took out Two PayDay Loans,which are now paid. According to the licensing regs it looks as tough if they're not licensed in your state, then it's a free for all and they can do what they want.however, it will not be enforced. And on the other hand it seems the consumer has no protection or recourse From those "Lenders"if they are not licensed in the consumers state. I could be mistaken!

Help! Approx. 6 years ago I purchased a home and my credit was in great standings. Since then I got divorced. I am purchasing another home and a derogatory tradeline appeared on my credit. The cc debt looks like it originated from Providian. It was closed 10/2000 and charged off 6/2001. The same account is now showing it is from LVNV Funding, and is active as of 3/2000, with a report date of 02/2006. I tried calling Providian and they have nothing on file due to the age of the account. I have tried to find information on LVNV Funding to discuss this and have find nothing.

I started this program, it didn't work for me, so I went through their procedure to cancel the program, requesting my refund. That was in February, and as of this writing, they will not respond to me, nor will they respond to the attorney general's office.........so a place that supposedly helps you get out of debt has virtually stolen $354.00 of my money. I will not give up, I will continue to seek other ways to get my money, short of hiring a private attorney.

These jerks just called my home and told me that they received our payment Western Union and we need to schedule another payment date. They are consolidated through T&C and T&C are the ones sending them their money. We have never sent them a Western Union, and why would we pay them directly and through T&C? I am getting really tired of the payday loan industry.

Do you also add payday loans into the debt consildation process? such as Check into Cash, CashNetUSA and others?

i heard that you can bring your credit score up by paying the credit card bills by minium (least)payments is that true?
