I have a question. Do the original creditors (not the collection agency) have to honor the cease and desist letter? I have sent out certified mail (with return receipt) and faxed cease and desist letters to a number of companies and until today had not heard anything from them. Today, I got 8 calls at work from the same company (payday select) even after I have communicated with them that I was with T&C AND sent them the C&D letter. Should I re-fax the letter? By the way, I mailed out the certified letters on last Thursday and still haven't gotten any of the return receipts.

I would really like to do something like this with my life once I get straightened out. The more people I can steer away from payday loans the better. Does anyone know how long they have been in business?

I have made a few offers with creditors for settlements. I have paid these off and want to find out if this will help my credit or hurt it more? I am assuming I still have the 7 year period to wait until it is removed from the credit reports. Is this correct? The accounts I paid off were not getting paid and I sent letters to the creditors/debt collectors asking for a settlement. Any advise? thanks
