my father is 84 and has 5 credit cards and 1 loan. He is now in a rest home which consumes 75% of his retirement. I have power of attorney of his money. If I stop making payments to these credit cards and loan can they come after me. I am assisting with the rest home on expenses. Since I did not create this debt am I still responsible for it.

Ok, so I'm looking through my "previous addresses", and it's showing me as living, or previously lived at 12909 Holborn Ave Cleveland, OH. I live in OHIO....But never in Cleveland...I don't even think I've ever BEEN to Cleveland, other than nearby Sandusky to go to Cedar Point...(YAY ROLLERCOASTERS!!) I don't see anything weird with my credit accounts, but what should I DO?? Can I dispute this? Should I track down what the heck is at 12909 Holborn? This could be someone trying ID theft, right?? YIKES!

Good news, kinda. I noticed today that I had 2 accounts showing for Macys. I opened this account while I was in High School prom dress shopping--They gave me 10 percent off. Yipee! :-P I called and asked why I was showing 2 accounts. Apparently when I went into Collection Mode on the account, they closed the first, and reopened a second account, which I paid in full. They guy on the phone was so cool. He said, "I'm going to get the first accound deleted for you.

Hi. I haven't went to bed yet, I've been up since sunday morning. I stayed up all night, typing up more dispute letters to credit bureaus (all 3) for me and my husband. Then wrote letters to Dell and wells fargo and the collection agencies involved with those. I have to now go to the post office and send this stuff certified return receipt. Its noon here central time!!! anyways, I noticed alot of the collection agencies and creditors have fax numbers. I was thinking of looking at a fax machine at walmart, they have one on sale for a really good price.

I'm in California and have been for about 4 years now. I recently discovered that my credit report is under my brothers name. I don't know when exactly that happened or how but when my husband and I were looking for a place to live, the landlord pulled our credit reports and then told me that she found my brothers credit report not mine. So needless to say we weren't approved for the move. Last month curiosity got the best of me. I went to equifax website and pulled my report and printed it out. HOLY COW!!! The student loans on there are mine and that was it. There wasn't anything else.

I was wondering if CA are able to collect from any state or if there are restrictions as to what state. I have an out of stste collection co. trying to collect on an account they bought of mine. Thanks all

I would like your opinion and/or theory as to what would happen if I did NOT file bankruptcy in the very near future. The situation is this: My husband and I live in New York State. We live on only his income, which is basically minimum wage. He is looking for a second job but they are hard to find in this economically depressed area. We own both our home and our car outright and according to the lawyer with whom I spoke, due to their low value, would not be subject to seizure in a bankruptcy.

Hello, I am unsure whether to name the credit card companies or the collection agencies as those to whom I owe. In other words, now that my accounts have been sold to collection agencies, do I still file bankruptcy from Capital One, First USA, etcetera or these agencies that have purchased my accounts? Thank you for your help.
