I was so glad to find this site! I have been subject to the same type of childish tactics as others for the past year. It began when I went thru a divorce in which my husband left me less than nothing, as I was stuck with all of our credit card debt! He was savvy enough to never have me put him on my cards, and it was those cards that kept our children clothed, etc. for the last year of our so-called marriage. Citibank was the only creditor that refused to work with me when I had almost no income and was paying the divorce attorney her hefty fees.

I was also contacted by Taylor James and Associates today. I called back and asked what it was in regards to. I didn't get the man who called me and left the message but the man I spoke with gave me info regarding pay day loan I had taken out. I had questions for him but kept insisting he could not give legal advise over the phone. Some of the same things happened to me on the call that happened to others who where contacted by them. I was wondering, should I contact a lawyer tomorrow?

I received a letter today from Edelman, Combs, Latturner, & Goodwin, LLC today regarding the over charging and harassment that Sherman Acquisition has been doing to many debtors. This is a class action lawsuit brough forth by an individual from Chicago. Apparently there is a large settlement to anyone who has experienced troubles with Sherman, however there are restrictions. The restrictions were unclear, as I have just gotten off work, and do not feel like reading through 6 pages of "legal jumbo".

Hey. I'm not sure if there's a way out of this one for me or not, but I wanted to get everyone's opinion on this and maybe find a way out of this mess. In January of this year, in an effort to break an endless, dangerous cycle of renewing payday loans and drifting deeper into debt, my wife got one last payday loan for $590 and then, before the check was due, we stopped payment on the check with. The company, First Cash, attempted to call us and we did answer on occasion and tell tehm that we were unable to repay the debt because of hardship, which is true. Medical bills suck.

I went out today, came back to a message on my answering machine. It was automated and it said my husbands name. They gave me a phone number to call and a number to reference. They didn't say who they were, so I called the number back. I got an answering machine. It identified the number as being 'Professional Credit management, Inc.". I hung us, as I just wanted to see who they were. 870-933-8257 I was wondering if this is a collection agency or people that help you with your financial problems? As far as I know, I haven't dealt with them or know what they want. anyone here know?

I got zapped by Jennifer from Anthony Galloway & Associates on a payday loan that I already have payment arrangements in writing with. I was very cool. (Much to my surprise) :). Anyway, when Jennifer got done with her speel that at 3:00 pm I wouldbe arrested and my kids taken away, I asked her, Are you the same Jennifer from Ellis Crosby that called in August? She stated no! Funny thing is, she used the same last name as before. I reminded her that the conversation was being recorded and she said she wasn't breaking any laws and I said oh okay.

I live in Florida and have never lived in another state and I rec'd a summons to appear in court for a credit card acct from 1997. I have a Court date in February that is going to be in the Judge's chambers with the atty representing the collection agency there by phone. This acct was charged off in July 2000 and my credit report lists the date of last activity on this acct as 11/1999. I have filed this information with the Court but it does not appear this atty is going to give up. It is my understanding that this is a time barred debt that he is attempting to sue on is this correct?

I see a collection item in one of my reports that might be related to an old debt from 1998. This old debt has certainly expired the SOL for both collection and reporting purposes. How should I approach this to get it off my report? Should I first ask for a debt validation from CA? And then write a letter to the bureau with a copy of the debt validation proving to the bureau that this debt is way past its SOL for reporting purposes? The collection item was opened in 2004.
